Badgless grill help?

Hey ive bought the mattig grill off ebay. i managed to get my fiat grill off, few bits came off lol! but upon putting the new one on the top fit it fine, but the bottom clip style things dont seem to be clicking into place or anything, is there something ive done wrong?

Also i seem to have a gap when bonnet is close, is supposed to be there?im putting a picture up, its like above the light.

Sorry for the bad technical explanation, but i dont know what to call things. Any reply will be gratefully received.

Re: Badgless grill help?

the gap to me doesn't look like its from the grill. looks like the pillar next the light instead, which is actualy part of the bumper

Re: Badgless grill help?

hmmm, il admit mine is a different style, but the slots on the bottom fitted perfectly in the original holes.
best way to do it is fit the bottom 1st, then screw the top down.

other than that mate..im confuzzeled

Re: Badgless grill help?

I cant take any better pictures cos of the sun! never thought id say this but sun go away lol! i tried from bottom still no good,

only thing i can hope as top seemed to be in and with bonnet closed it'll stay in place when i go to work, then hopefully i know a couple people got this exact grill will be able to point me in the right direction, as to whether im doing something wrong.

Thanks for you help though mate, it might be something ive got to do with the grill itself that i cant see lol.

Re: Badgless grill help?

Mine wasn't a completely perfect fit but near enough, you have to bare in mind they make them from a mold of the original i would guess.
You could try a small blob of glue/epoxy resin/etc on the bottom corner and tape in place till dry, that should stop the bottom moving in and out.
The top will be fine if you screwed it, i had to put a small self tapper at each end as i broke a clip.

The gap looks fine as mentioned before, mopre to do with the bumper than the grill.

Let us know how you get on

Re: Badgless grill help?

yh i woulda thought it was mold so wouldnt be far off right. the four clips on the bottom are in the hole, but dont seem to be catchin on anything, if that makes sense? The top of it seems to be alright, but if all comes to it ill prob go the glue route just to be sure, im liking the look now though lol! Thanks.

Re: Badgless grill help?

I had the mattig grille on mine for a period, must admit i broke quite a few of the clips trying to get it on, i just applied a little bit of double sided sticky stuff (like the stuff your badges are held on with) just to make sure it was going to stay there.........cant remember if mine had any kind of gap though

Re: Badgless grill help?

what i'd do is snap off all of the bottom clips and line the bottom of the grill with 1mm or 6mm thick numberplate stickypads from halfords (£1.99 and £2.49 respectively).

that should hold it in place nicely, make it look snug, secure, and you can still remove it when you want.

(by squirting tar remover onto the pads)

Re: Badgless grill help?

if their is still a gap between the bonnet and the bumper try twisting the little adjusters anti-clockwise under both sides of the bonnet near the front of the car.
