Few Prices Required

If you see my other thread you will see I am after a Stilo (main Stilo section, 'I'm after a Stilo - Few Questions'

What prices am I looking at for the Abarth bodykit, where could I get one from, what are the delivery times and so on.

Also, not had a quick Google yet, but to lower it up to 50mm I'm looking at coilovers rather than springs? What're the options - what have you guys got? My Leon is dropped 50mm all round which means I need to slow down for speedbumps; I can get up slopes no problem, but I may only wind the Stilo down 40mm..

What are the largest alloys you recommend without a loss of performance? 17"? Can they get in the arches ok without rubbing?

Cheers

Personnally, I wouldnt bother with all the lowering and new alloys etc. I wouldnt change it out of OEM specifications, a lot of people are having real problems selling on after large modifications as no where will take it as P/X. Your just making an undesirable car, even more undesirable really.

As for the body kit, mine came factory fitted but I have heard good things about the Lester stuff, http://www.lester.it/uk/default.asp

Re: Few Prices Required

Not lowering the standard car? It handles like a barge - and even if you don't want to go to extremes, the 30/35mm Eibachs are heavily rated, and totally transform the car.

Why do you say the car is not desirable? Do you know something I don't?! As for keeping it OEM - I think some nice wheels would really set the car off - plus you could park a bus between the wheel and the arches I know you won't make any money back from modifications - but I can keep the standard parts and if I sold the car, put it back to standard and sell the modded parts here as I'm sure someone may need them!

50mm Blimey! Mine's only lowered 35mm and some journeys take a little thought due to certain speed bumps in the road. Those stupid rubber ones you get on some car parks have to be avoided altogether!

Re: Few Prices Required

1) I rate the Lester stuff. It does the abarth replica bits (skirts and spoiler). Prices are reasonable however because the stilo bits are so rare in the UK, theyre usually shipped direct from Italy. I had to wait about a month for mine.
to save you some time, i have the spoiler for sale in the classifides

2) Definately lower on some rated springs. This will improve both handling and looks no end, and i personally cannot see how this would decrease the saleability for your car. if anything, it'll increase it. Have a chat with Proven Products (LINK).

3) Alloys, I have 18" and my car is lowered 40mm with no problems whatsoever. I know of a stilo that had 19" with no problems and another with 17" but lowered a ridiculous 110mm!!! even with that he had no problems (its on coilovers with NO suspension travel at all, its solid as a rock).

For overall handling & driveability i'd say stick with a tidy set of 17's and lower on the Eibach 30mm springs, and get the Lester kit for your car. Then its onto engine modification with GSR

PNL will probably reply to this thread. He had the full Lester kit on his 5 door stilo and it was sweet

Hope that helps, and good luck finding your perfect stilo and enjoying it for years to come

oh and do a search on here, all the above have been covered many times

Re: Few Prices Required

I have had a search and there's loads of info to read through, so I thought a topic for my specific queries would be more informative for what I require

The Leon is 50mm, but the front splitter is off, else I would get nowhere!

Ozmosis, your post is brill - thank you. I read that a remap on rolling road days is £199 - is this still correct? What *other* engine mods are there apart from remap, new exhaust and airfilter? Smoothing the airbox, dump valve (do they even do dump valves - not a huge noisey one, just a small one)

Cool Re: Few Prices Required

AS Oz said the lester stuff is far better than the fiat stuff..Mine was fully kitted and looked cool ..skirts are far better than fiats cos they travel the full length of the sill while the fiat ones on the wifes 3dr are half inch short front and back and looks really bad

Where's the best place to get Lester bits then - Google is not very helpful.

Re: Few Prices Required

I thought it was obvious its undesirable? How many do you see around compared to Golf's and Leons.....

I am stating my personal opinion, I agree it handles like a boat but for normal usage (I have done 16,000 miles this year in it) it does make a difference in practicality and as I live in a semi-rural area with speed humps the size of mountains, I would not want my car any lower. Sorry chaps, im function over form

Re: Few Prices Required

Funnily enough - there was one other MK2 Ibiza in my area when I first got one, then by the time I sold up (about a year later), they're everywhere! There were a few Leons around before I got mine, yet again months after mine a few more pop up - three more on my estate! I wonder if I can do the same for the Stilo

Still, as it's so cheap to use and run I'm sure either of my sisters will have it off me when I'm done with it.

Also - it seems that cars are more 'desirable' when a)everyone else has one b)they frequent Southend c)you can get one already modified really easily and d)Jeremy Clarkson likes it

as i said, i've got the spoiler for sale in the classifides, which would save you a lot of waiting time. Best place for the Lester bits is DVK Associates, but be prepared for the parts to be shipped over from Italy.

a GSR / Red-Dot remap is £199 on an RR day (31st may), induction kit is around another £150, any more is overkill, unless you're really into engine modification and that 0.5bhp would make you sleepless

could you put up a pic of your stilo please phil so he can see what the lester bits look like

and adam, i think the stilo is very desirable, its just the majority of people are badge snobs and think every fiat is i had a rather lenghty argument with a mate of mine who has a saab diesel. he just wouldnt believe that his engine is a fiat one, and that i've got it in my car

I agree with all of that apart from "C", I think less people want to have a modified car than a standard one. Modifying is a very personal thing, kind of like decorating a house. If you want to sell a house, you need to make it look appealing to your target market. The modified car market is pretty small compared to the population of car buyers so you are narrowing your target market when you wish to re-sell.

If moneys not a problem or you have a guarenteed buyer when your finnished with it, go for it

Oz, I agree with you entirely, but if it was desirable, surely they would have sold more and the depreciation would not be as large. By desirable I mean not just pretty to look at, but also a sales winner

p.s. Which Stilo version are you looking at
