Italian Number Plate

So,

I've seen a few V Dubs with German style number plates, and i think it looks quite cool. Is it possible/legal to have a British number plate in an Italian style?

Re: Italian Number Plate

I was thinking of it too, looks good with dealer badge.. say with a Rome address or something. or even the dealer next to the factory.
I am sure though that next year if a car has a non UK plate marking or boarder then the car will fail at MOT, I read that somewhere.

I'm thinking of getting my hands on a Bravo HGT and playing about with it. I know where I can get a concours example for next to nothing.

Seen a few golf's with german style plates on - kinda look ok

You're right Multiplewagon, if you take your car for an MOT with anything but DVLA approved plate format it's and automatic fail. Look forward to the next step where anything but the standard format plate will be a fine and 3 points!

Re: Italian Number Plate

im trying to get hold of proper german style plates for my dad, with the proper spacing and Stadt markers n stuff. its illegal.. more illegal than just having a D next to a steel pressed plate... but i think on face value (if a copper drives past) he can get away with it cos its a left hand drive BMW!

they need to be changed for the MOT for deff. i had a service on the sei and was told off for having the steel plates and pink side lights lol. just told they have to be changed before MOT

Re: Italian Number Plate

There's a local Golf (usually see him filling up at Tesco's) thats got almost original German plates - with the two circular stamps between the Nos and last 3 letters. Next time he's there I'll ask where he got them.
