But after 2 bottles of carb cleaner and a toothbrush its sparkly clean now. only prob i had appart from losing the erg manifold-Gasket somewhere in the engine was the engine warning light came on with the massage "engine problem" or something. But after a blast around the block and i mean blast the car goes like a rocket now the warning no longer comes on, must have needed a blow out. This is how bad it was... I should have taken a pic of "inside" the egr valve, but you get the picture

Does this mean it's not working as it should, or that its working correctly? Thank you

Was driving home from work a couple of weeks ago, stopped at some lights. When I attempted to take off, the engine lost pretty much all oomph, and I blinded the guy behind me with a nice load of soot. At first I thought the turbo had crapped out, but reading of similar experiences on this forum, I started to suspect the EGR - now its cleaned, everything back to normal...

It had been playing up again the past few weeks, so with the help of your guide I was able to take it apart and clean it, rather than spend a fortune again. The plunger was rock solid on mine until some force was applied. She is driving beautifully again.
