Hello all, I've done some searching in the forums but can't quite find what I need so I hope you can help me.
I've recently been tasked with getting a 79 Spider running after sitting for God only knows how long. I've replaced a bunch of parts (plugs, wires, air pump just to name a few). I could get the car running and even drove it to the gas station to put air in the tires and gas in the tank but the very next day, the owner would call me back and say the car wouldn't run. When I would return, I could get the car running again with some coaxing (i.e starter fluid). Once it got some heat into it, it would run nice and smooth but once it cooled back down, it wouldn't even start without starter fluid. This is when I noticed the carb had a vacuum leak from the top and bottom gaskets. Bought a rebuild kit but I noticed upon taking the thing apart that it was missing internal parts (the car had been previously worked on by an unknown mechanic). I'm amazed the thing ran at all...
I guess what I need is a good parts supplier in the US, specifically San Diego, CA if possible, where I can get the correct carb and get the car back on the road before I dent the fender with my forehead.
I appreciate you taking the time to look at my thread and hope you can point me in the right direction. Thank you for your time.
