'76 Spider Engine/Trans Swap

Hi Everyone!
I've been reading through the posts and had a question I was hoping you guys could help me out with.
I have a '76 Fiat Spider that I am thinking about swapping out the engine and transmission with something newer perhaps a Nissan or a Honda setup. Any thoughts about what would be the best to do? Thanks!

Re: '76 Spider Engine/Trans Swap

theres nothing wrong with an italian engine. if you asked me i like my fiat motor better than my new camry engine. if you are doing it for the increase in horsepower ive seen several fiats with chevy small block 350's in them.

Re: '76 Spider Engine/Trans Swap

have you considered the brake upgrade you will be installing to slow all that additional horsepower down? what will you be doing for increased suspension to handle the additional weight?

why not rebuild the 1800, or swap to a two litre OHC and beef that up? dual 40 IDF carbs on a waffle intake, hi-perf cams, alum crank & timing gears...

Lots cheaper and fits right in with no tranny or rear end swap required. same suspension too.
