Rear brakes

anyone have any links for rear brake rebuilding? I'm looking for pic or help on how i can rebuild the cylinders.

fairly straightforward job.

are you sure they need rebuilding, or are they just not grabbing as you think they should? are they leaking, or are the pistons frozen?

is it possible that you did not bleed the rears correctly by jacking up both wheels at the same time and setting the axle on jackstands on both sides.

I'm new to the whole Fiat world. Just learning. I bought this 79 spider this past Nov. it has set for ???? years. when i pulled it on the trailor to bring it home the rear tires didnt want to turn very bad but did. since then i have it running and it seem that the brakes are frozen up. I only wanted to take one side at a time apart (started on the drivers side) it was somewhat rusty but not bad. I cleaned up the rotor and started on the piston but not sure how it comes apart or how its to work (with the e brake) Thanks for your help

the rear pistons do not adjust by in-out movement.... you must screw the rear pistons in or out, if i recall correctly counter clockwise for out, and clockwise for in. use of a C-clamp to force the rear pistons in will only result in frustration.

this is the tool that works well for turning those pistons.

as far as removing the E brake cable from the caliper, may i first ask if the cable is going to be salvaged or replaced? if replacement is going to occur, then merely cut the cable from the caliper. if the cable is going to be salvaged, the best method for disconnecting from the caliper is to first remove the caliper from the car. the return spring on the caliper is generally stronger than you...and this part of the task takes a lotta patience.
