| Ignition locked up! The ignition switch on my 77 124 Spider has locked up. I know it's the steering wheel lock. I've rocked the steering wheel and the ignition switch to no avail. Do I have to dismantle the steering column or the ignition switch to fix it?

| Re: Ignition locked up! I was able to determine it's the ignition switch. Now I have to figure out how to either re-key or dismantle and find another one.

| Re: Ignition locked up! Removing the ignition switch is pretty simple, If you've got a shop manual I beleive it explains the process. I think you remove the steering colmn trim, and two screws from the housing, then push in a pin to disable the steering lock then just pull it out.. Once you have the switch out, depending on your problem, you can rebuild the switch. Here are some instructions. I've done it and it's worked out pretty well for me.
