RSS Feeds

OK so was thinking it would be possibly usefull if sections/posts were able to be seen as updated with new threads via RSS feeds, means the widget i have on the desktop could tell me when someone has posted a new thread in the Brava/o section and what the title was without me having to log in and read it etc...

Just an example as i'm on here too much anyway, or for a single thread instead of subscribing it updates when updated.

Just a thought!

Re: RSS Feeds

Always thought about this, but then thought it actually might keep people off the forum - so just relying on the RSS - whereas if they have to log in, then they will see what else is going on ...

Re: RSS Feeds

RSS works well when there is a new article each day, or maybe a few, or even 20 a day! FiatForum has way more new threads than this each day... I think RSS would be swamped.
Besides, IE's RSS reader only updates once every 24 hours by default!

Yea would be an RSS feed per thread or something i was thinking rather than one for the whoel forum, also decent RSS readers you can set how you update.

But as sai think it would take peeps away from the site, although i would find it usefull if i was watching for a thread reply or something like that.

Re: RSS Feeds

as much as i love to embrace technology, i dont think RSS feeds really suit a forum. it would be handy coz i have RSS feeds direct on a desktop plugin, but a forum is all about loggin in and reading stuff.
