It will need to be split into different types, eg Tom Tom, Garmin, Navman, etc

Pocket GPS is excellent if you don't already use it. Cost's £2 per month for the speed camera updates, but the info is about as good as you can get for sat-nav

Re: sat nav forum

pocket gps is indeed a good site but i was thinking more along the lines of offering technical support to members here eg the stuff is available from pocket gps world but people have trouble installing it so maybe we could helpthem as well as developing our own fiat related poi,s

Re: sat nav forum

I think for me a satnav, for directions and speed camera locations and applicable speed limits, would be a genuinely useful purchase / Xmas present but struggling with which one to get.

Makro had the Roadcom G400 for 99 + VAT and Sainsburys got the Sony NU50 for 147... mooching round the net both seem to be compromised by their mapping

The info on the net is either from disgruntled folk who have bought what they deem a steaming pile of .... or posts by techno geeks going on about what chipsets they got etc. Fancy the Bluespot Lucca at 148 but not sure if it does speed cameras so YES would welcome a satnav & speed camera detector style section on this forum

Re: sat nav forum

Hmm... so a downloads area might be a good idea (mentioned in another thread too).... will see if anything decent has already been written.

Could do a few sections for other bits and pieces too ...

Argh, though don't know if there's enough roomo for the link at the top !

Re: sat nav forum

wot no warning lite first thing to ask is for what main purpose do you require nav?
ie, british use or european use second question is do you require poi points of intrest files and speed camera warnings
question 3 do you need gimicks like hands free calling and a built in mp3 player

as a trucker i have used many diffrent units and am still of the opinion that tomtom is the market leader at the moment if you only looking for the go1 gb great britain mapping tom tom its available for £169 if your budget is smaller there are navman units available from £99 all i will say is for future life and in terms of add ons available and upgrades and ease of use its tom tom every time for me for bargain units have alook on www.hotukdeals.com

Re: sat nav forum

Yup agree a sat nav forum would be usefull. Is hard to decide which one without any good info, as reviews are always biased.

Re: sat nav forum

i wonder if the download section (if implimented)should be for donatees and/or for members of a certain post count/membership time.
prevents people joining just to grab files and never be seen again
