Welcome Forum

Just thought it might be a nice idea if we had a welcome forum, where the new members could read up on how to use the forum, have stickies on the rep system, using the gallery, new posts feature, report a bad post and how to use the forum.

Also a test sig thread instead of people making up different threads in LL all the time just have one thread in there.

Users policy

A thread where people can ask questions about the forum itself

Remind people they can donate.

i know a lot of this is in LL but a lot of new members dont go in there straight away, also they could post a "newbie" thread if they wish and anything else that could go in there.

dunno what you lot think

Re: Welcome Forum

Very good idea

I was going to do this thread a while ago, but thought otherwise. Not sure why though....I'll let you know when I remember why I didn't

Don't like the idea of the test part, those sites usually look very amateur...

Re: Welcome Forum

Actually, when I think about, every other forum I've seen has an introductions section. It's strange that it hasn't been suggested before.

Re: Welcome Forum

i only suggested the test sig part to keep LL clear of people doing that, the only other solution is that i delete those threads as they get posted up in LL

Re: Welcome Forum

Would it be possible to make user's post on there before they could post else where?

Re: Welcome Forum

You cant force people to post on there first, but if they make a newbie thread anywhere it could be moved and a pm saying where it is and to read all the stickies.

but thats just a thought anyway

I don't think that is possible given the limitations of vBulletin.

Your probably right Steve...

I was just thinking, that if the section would serve any purpose at all, then it is a good idea that new members had to look in that section before making posts in the other sections...

Re: Welcome Forum

In that case, wouldn't it be easier to give a link to the noobs section when they sign up [is there an email confirmation link now?]
