I was looking to see if its worth a seperate Punto Evo Folder from the Grande Punto as the dealer seems to be treating these as new beasts,,
Or do we just see this as a face lift?

I bought one today :)

SPARE WHEEL

or lack off one,, i see some buy it at £35 instead of the foam inflator,,

My dealer said i can take what i want from my GP im trading inn,,

Could i swap the spare, never used it & im guessing its possably the same size?

Or whats other opinion on this,, i know the tyres ruined once you foam it were as the spare (could be space saver but never looked, lol) will get us to were we need to go until the tyres fixed,,

You know what i mean.

I paid £35 for the spare wheel personally, so i cant say if the old spare wheel would fit, id imagine so, pretty sure mines just a standard steel wheel just like any other...

Evo > Alsation :D

well as with all of these type of things it will most likely be left to see how it comes out
i have no problem with having an evo section, its just if theres enough difference ot make it a worthwhile section IYKWIM
often people say we should get X forum/subforum and they are then very quiet
sat nav and imaging are 2 good examples

evo has new interior, multiair etc...linea has a boot! Evo will sell in big numbers so having its own section would be advisable in the near future.

A white evo came towards me and it really didnt look very nice. It looked like a GP, but uglier :S Its that front end, its very silly.

For me, it's all about the car coming the opposite way catching your eye. Even the base spec GP's catch your eye. This was a top spec evo and it looked...meh.

:ROFLMAO: owned

So are the 2 cars the same?

I always thought that they were, but the EVO being a facelift.

They look almost the same to me  :p

I've found it pretty easy to get confused between an EVO and the GP, but on certain angles (front mainly) it looks different.

I must say the front end of mine looks great, but in photos it looks odd.... not sure why lol.

and yeah, ive paid 14.5k for my car i dont care what other people think, its got all the gadgets you'd expect from a car worth 20k, and the car feels top notch quality, very tight, no rattles, no visable cheap plastics etc, and beats the pants off the other cars ive seen in the segment & a few above it.

true but alsatians have bad (undeserved) reputation while german shepherd has a 'calmer' ring to the name:)

So we need a evo and dog section:D

True, though all the "bad rep" dogs are just given bad labels because of the people that own them,

plenty of the "worst" dogs met so far are some of the nicest, my niece has a massive rottweiler while its made of muscle & weighs a ton & more than capable of knocking even the biggest of people there butt, its one of the friendliest dopey-est dogs ive met even during "rough play" he doesnt snap, even gets on with the kids in the family (7-10)

a friend of mine also has a fully grown rottweiler, stupid thing thinks its a cat... sit on there sofa & the thing would jump on your lap wanting to be stroked, major err someone help!? situation :p

niece in america has 3 pitbulls, i've not met them yet but from what ive heard from people who have gone to visit very all surprisingly nice dogs.

also another friend had a staffy, there labeled as violent but his was great, walked around making pig noises and sits in the wrong places so its regularly kicked by accident & its never snapped, barked alot in general though.

the only horrible dogs ive met would be jack russels, those little ****s just randomly kick off & go nuts, cant do any real damage but they do nip & regularly get in fights with other dogs. (in my experience.)

oh yeah, back onto cars..Evo forum! :p

I'm sure it's jealousy from Grande owners who can't afford an EVO, it doesn't help that you are the first EVO owner on here and bought a top spec one with even more things than their Grande's. They can't afford one and have spent too much money devalueing their Grande's with some ugly mods lol

Its not jealousy lol

Maybe if i have engine problems the GP forum will be of use... oh wait, different engine all together.

i wouldn't say it's a different engine all together, they're both 1368cc 4 cylinder turbo engines. The Evo just has the multiair gubbins on it that gives it what, 15ps? The highest output tjet is 180ps, and the highest output multiair is only 165hp. All swings and roundabouts really.

Any photos of the top end of this engine, or is it all shrouded in plastic?

edit, wait - oh you have a non turbo version

Turbo is only avaliable in 3 door, so i went for the 5 door eleganza, 6th gear is awesome too.

If turbo was on the 5 door model id of gone for that, 3 doors are horrible, couldn't let a turbo overrule functionality, but considering the value of the car it could be justified to turbo it if modders experiment.... or just wait til they release a 5 door sporting :)

and yeah, engine is covered in plastic.

Trust me it's not jealousy.....

its jealous ? :p

meh, i dont think people are jealous(a few maybe) just people not willing to accept change, and of course everyones taste is different, and i accept that, but some people do rip the car without even seeing one in a decent colour.

Personally i liked the Grande, but compared to the Evo it looks rather dated interior & exterior (*puts on bullet proof jacket*), and I was in the market to buy a new car, so i bought the "new" car after researching its superior to the "old" car in almost every way.... and i facking well loves it!

P.s, love the orange.

Multiair is very interesting nd works well unlike the attempts of old. The results are a much crisper response and better fuel/economy...its all housed under the rocker cover if thats what you were meaning.

despite some comments when i read back through loads of old threads in reference to the dashboard the majority of members hated the dash for its cheap looking plastics and blandless (didnt think it was that bad myself), the GP was due for an update and i think Fiat have done a good job although i have some resevations over the satnav and price tag.

Satnav is nice, but.. a low profile tidier way of having it would of been nice, like a slot in the dash or something that could just slide it & look like part of the car, the current stand looks very 3 years ago, but i always regularly used tomtom so its really nice to have no wires etc, but part of me hopes the Evo really catches on & people might start making 3rd party lower profile stands or something.

I'd also of liked LED DRLs, seems every car with DRL now has LED and it makes the car look expensive.... Evo having a standard bulb setup isnt quite as cool as an audi.

Price tag is abit steep but im sure it'll drop once the initial sales are done, personally id of removed the Punto Sound range and moved it all down a slot, but still, Eleganza is pretty good for the price, GP model not so much imo

All that being said, the Evo is very nice right now but next year / year after Fiat will be needing to update it again as Ford will bring in there MyFord system, and im sure Vauxhall / VW will be doing something to counter that.

Back to my spare wheel,,

How useless is the foam inflator?

I would imagine you would need to find the nail & remove before inflation or?

Also i guess the tyres gashed & needs replaced asap also the refill foam pack would need replaced at cost too i guess,,

Whats the thoughts?

If my GP Spare is a diff size then obviously i will just buy one at £35,, just trying to save were ever,,

I filled my tank stupidly on Sunday before going to the garage to have another look,, a tank lasts me 4 full weeks & the dealer wants the keys handed over before end month.,,i would rather wait till sunday 4th as i have a 350+ mile drive on the 3rd April,,

Dont fancy putting these miles on the Evo,

yeah, i'm curious about it. But i guess no-one on here is going to whip the cam cover off it for me to have a look
