Language!

As Gene Simmons says: "Well, itīs a dirty job but somebody has got to do it."

Some facts: Iīm norwegian. This forum is english.

Still many posts are in a strange language. Example below:

"Thnx so much really appricate it good 2 o ppl still love a gud uno now a days thnx for advice ppl ne websites for those exhausts".

What kind of way is this to write? Shouldnīt school DE-teach things like this?

I guess the forumīs majority is from the UK, but some foreign members are active as well. We are willing to help and participate, but when it gets annoying to read a post, it may get ditched quickly and not answered.

So please write so it is possible to read.

Iīm done now.

Sincerely, Morten.

Re: Language!

Believe me, Mort, the best English writers don't come from England. I blame the education system, personally

Re: Language!

Don't get me wrong Mort, I agree, however, as Stu says, some people in the UK don't know how to speak English properly, some how they ignored 11 years of education.

Re: Language!

Can i make a request that you don't bring in the idea of kharma like some forums have though.
As it totally ruins them by stopping you posting short posts and making you preview posts which can be very annoying!
IMO

Re: Language!

I have a feeling the karma is the same as reputation but just given a different name? I'm thinking of scrapping Rep anyway, its not being used how it should be and just causing arguments....

To recap, rep is for people that HELP OUT - not people who write something funny, or something you agree with....

Re: Language!

Ben, about the rep, it was just me, I apologise for all that and my abuse of it shortly afterwards.

Re: Language!

I agree, ban rep totally - it is useless, and being abused by ALL of us - or keep it for fun.......

The point of this thread, before you digress and go off-topic , is to ensure that the forum is accessible to all - if we are alienating those guys whose English is a SECOND language, then that is a sorry state of affairs. This doesn't mean small or spam posts are wrong, just the general use of text speak. After all, we are not word limited.

No it wasnt paul it's everyone, if you check the rep listing (Well, you can't hehe, but i can) - most is given for 'very funny' - 'nice avatar' - etc....

Just seems a bit pointless...

Re: Language!

Aw Ben, Lora won't speak to you ever again..........

Is there anyway you can ban if from LL threads? Therefore rep is down to actual FIAT and car expertise, or lack of.
