Lightbulb Driving Section?

Just a thought , most of us here share not only a passion for looking at our Fiats but also, presumably, for driving them too.

Would there be some merit in a forum for this kind of discussion? It seems to take place in LL at the moment which makes it rather susceptible to being spammed. Could be a central place to bring together talk on anything from learning to drive, advanced driving techniques to sharing great driving roads/routes.

Worth considering?

Spam fests occur outside LL aswell. Seen the gay and lesbian thread here in site ideas?

I do actually like the idea of it, but I really don't think it would have anything like the traffic required to make it worth while.

How often does a driving thread appear in LL? One every couple weeks maybe.

Re: Driving Section?

We've done something similar on another forum and it's taken a lot of work to build up traffic to get discussion going but we have got it to a level where there are regular posts.

One thing we did do to achieve it was offer "advanced" driving taster sessions to try and get people hooked into it. The taster sessions involved an hourish long route run twice, once by the coach as a demo and then once by the coachee where specifics of their driving could be discussed and looked at. Some of the coachees come back regularly and others have gone off to join IAM/RoSPA groups.

Failing that there are some excellent driving sites about (www.advanced-driving.co.uk for example), but some of the discussions can be a bit too serious and lose sight of the fact driving should be fun.

Give me a shout if you want any help setting it up

Chris

Well yes, they can occur anywhere but I'm a member of many forums across the web and 'chit-chat' areas (like FF's LL) are much more susceptable.

If "driving" wouldn't generate enough traffic, maybe it could be streched out a little to "Motoring" maybe?

I'm not sure about a lack of traffic to be honest - we all drive! Jus to highlight that, here is a list of the driving and motoring topics (in LL alone) that have been active over the last week:That's more traffic than many of the other sections on here, and I think were the space available more discussion may be generated.

Funnily enough it was the fact that my thread on advanced driving dropped out of the first page of LL so quickly and attracted so little comment that prompted me to think that there wasn't really anywhere on here to discuss what we actually do with our Fiats

I'm a member on ADUK too, but it all seems a little "technical" for someone (like me) who isn't, yet, an advanced driver.

Indeed, and the law which applies to what one can and cannot do to one's vehicle. Similarly changes to the cost of fuel etc. Anything motoring related which doesn't fit in any existing section.
