Thread start date

could be handy maybe going next to the title or member who started it.

I know that there is various sections with options to view new posts and that you can see how old the thread is once you have opened it.

BUT it may be a bit more easier for people to know how old a thread is without having to open it and being able to just scroll down the section seeing the date the thread started!

Re: Thread start date

Surely the date of the last post is enough to show how recent the thread is, which is located on the right of the post info.

Re: Thread start date

yeah but occasionally i feel like i do not want to read a thread if it has been going for 6 months as the subject is old. Dnt know if anyone else has this issue or just me?

Re: Thread start date

but if a thread is 6 months old and its an ongoing and people are posting on then it shouldnt make a difference how old it is if its still current.

Re: Thread start date

I think we do as i was on here the other day looking at car problems and some guy had replied to an issue regarding fuses which was started over 2 years ago. or maybe a warning before replying to a topic with no post within X days ?

Re: Thread start date

I've seen an add on for vb that does that, it just puts (X days old) at the end of the date.

Let me see if I can find it and what it entailed doing.

It was pointed out this could be a bad thing, as some people won't read old threads......?

if you are searching for info then surely the date is of little importance?
the search option offers date search criteria as well

Re: Thread start date

Thats what my point was. We have a few old threads that are ongoing. If it was made 2 years ago and is a current topic i dont see the problem with knowing when it was started. Surely the LAST post is more important

Re: Thread start date

because the topic may have changed or the info may have been changed so for example say someone posts
ooo abarth skirts for a cinq are only £10 on this great new website
and then they change the price on the website to £1000 then the OP doesnt post anything then it would be handy

Re: Thread start date

then you would see when you went to order.
this is why you can define the date in the search feature.
so any 'old' threads wont even be seen
