engine management light on in a sedii 1.9 diesel 56 plate,anyone know if i can read code with any free software,i only have a K+DCAN usb cable,any help appreciated

Hi,
use MultiECUScan software.
they have a list of FIAT group cars, and the relevant cables required,
TBH - for ENGINE you shouldn't need the coloured adaptors
