Took me about 4 hours to get the old one out and 15 mins to put the new one in. It was cold and dark when I was getting the old one out which didn't help.

The trick is to remove the engine top cover, and the metal rail behind it that supports various tubes and pipes, and also to remove the bracket for the fuel filter. Once all that is out of the way getting it round from behind the engine lower one side and out at the top on the other side isn't too bad.

So I took a gamble on a cheap chinese one from ebay, but it is not giving good regulated voltage. So now I am buying an OEM Denso one. Give the cheapos a miss as the Denso one is not overly much more expensive.

I anticipate the second alternator change will only take me about an hour.... :slayer:
