Hi,

I have a 2006 petrol Sedici 1.6. The air bag light has lit and it is not going out.

Is there a diagnostic tool I can buy to remove it/fault find?

Thanks in advance.

Kieron.

Charlie thanks for the response, I have seen the Multi ECU scan on ebay for approx £15. It's coming up as Alpha/Fiat.It says it comes with software. Is it just a case of putting the software on my computer and then removing the air bag fault or do I need more diagnostic kit? I'm in Weston-super-Mare.

Hi,
the actual program - for a windows laptop..is free(y)

BUT you'll need at least 2 x leads

see the MultiECUScan website for your models requirements;

VAGCOM KKL / or / ELM327 basic interface lead

then a coloured one for the actual CAR diag port to MES pins,
Yellow/ RED / Green , etc

Cheers,

I have downloaded the software and ordered the leads. Hopefully it will work ok. Thanks for the advice.

Hi,

I now have the ELM327 basic interface lead and have connected to the ECU port via the multiecuscan 2.6 software and unfortunately it is saying that I have to pay for the software upgrade to make any changes to my airbag/ECU. Tried to find a free code to activate it but couldn't enter it as the top section was uneditable. Any advice anyone? They want 50 Euros for upgrade which I only use one. Might just take it to diagnostic garage and pay the £50 to clear the fault. Bit disappointed after buying the lead...

OP, borrow a multiester and test your battery - it's highly likely to be that (at least it was in my case) your battery is weak, which throws this code. There will be two codes, one for each airbag, I expect. If there's a single code for either L or R airbag, then you may actually have an airbag problem.

Easy to clear down codes after you've fitted a new battery (I borrowed a test unit for a tenner from a friendly garage), but in my experience disconnecting the battery for some time, which was recommended to clear the codes did not work.

hi, sound advice - as modern vehicle electronics need a good power supply,

however - MES will show the voltage the car's ECU is actually receiving,
I'd assume the OP ( Kieronaph) has checked this..,

Thanks for the info, unfortunately I only replaced the battery about 2 months ago but i'll check the voltage etc just in case.
