We had the sedici dmf and clutch done at the local garage two years and 32k miles ago.they reckon its gone again but arnt really interested.im heading up there this afternoon.is this an acceptable wear or should i be arguing over it not lasting.any thoughts would be helpful

whats niggles is that when they did it they insisted on the best/most expensive parts luk stuff.32k in normal driving no towing doesnt seem right to me

Personally I do not think it is acceptable. If it is a Fiat dealer then I would get Fiat involved as they might go down the good will route. In addition Fiat/Chrysler MOPAR parts are warranted for TWO years unlimited mileage.

For details see: http://www.mopar.com/assets/pdf/service_specials/mopar_parts_accessories_warranty_statement.pdf Note although this link US I believe the Fiat/Chrysler/MOPAR warranty is world wide.

If it is an independent then I'm afraid that you are probably looking a 12 months and 12K miles.

it was a local garage.really disappointed to say the least.

As said above, the dual-mass flywheel life will depend on how it is used. The two parts of the flywheel are connected via springs to dampen and absorb engine vibration, but a secondary benefit is smoother clutch engagement, although if the clutch is engaged harshly, its life will be reduced. The sprung flywheel masks harsh use, so tends to promote or even encourage it. Only you can know if the driving style may have contributed to its demise.
LUK is a good brand with a good reputation. With a quick look I can't find their warranty terms on their website, but it may be two years, so exact dates between fit and failure may be important.
Looking on the LUK on-line catalogue, they do not appear to list a dual-mass flywheel for the Sedici, but you may need to check with your exact vehicle details. You may need to discuss with the fitter the exact supplier of the replacement parts two years ago.
If the flywheel has failed, it is worth submitting a warranty or goodwill claim, as most good suppliers will be honest and concerned about short life failures. They will be able to see from an examination of the failed components the likely cause of the failure.

car is just driven like a normal car.both times the clutch has been fine.no gear selection problems at all.it never goes off road.no towbar and has been in 4x4mode twice in two years.it does seem like poor manufacture.garage is talking to his supplier.were hoping for some good will somewhere.
