General Time to Say Goodbye

Farewell fellow Sedici'er. Thanks for you help and advice over the years.

What will your new wheels of choice be?

Ok, my turn to leave the Sedici fold I'm afraid.

With the large amounts of M4 miles we're doing these days the wife and I have decided to put the Sedici to pasture.

We weren't happy with the amount offered for part exchange so we're going to hang on to it for the time-being. Got a few options; get it on autotrader/gumtree and see what we can get for it, pass it onto my Dad so he can use it as an occasional towing car, or leave it on the wife's parents farm and use it as an off-road runaround (so quite literally off to pasture).

We've grown very attached to the car over the years through the good and bad times.

Bad times; the water pump failure at cruising speed on the motorway leading to a melted timing belt and the inevitable engine recondition, the turbo failure whilst overtaking on a country road and inevitable new turbo, the EGR failure leading to clogged DPF and loss of power on boxing day, that time I found 80% of the front suspension spring sitting ominously on the driveway (may be linked to a good time below), and the time some London expletive decided to key every car parked on the street including mine and inevitable temporary lost faith in humanity.

Good times; me and mountain biking buddy blasting through the countryside (sometimes literally) with bikes on the roof finding awesome places to ride, driving to Aberystwyth through the Elan valley thinking I'm Colin McRae and getting air on a high speed hump back bridge, driving to Spa Francorchamp 2012 Belgium Grand Prix with 2 mates and a Union Jack flag patriotically stuck in the aerial as we drove around Spa (Jenson Button won), the time I towed my friends Citroen C1 out of a bog on a dirt track (his car went from black to brown very quickly), when I decided to fit a 12V in the centre console and realising half-way through that I'd actually taken most of the dashboard and centre console apart with no understanding of how to put it back (did it in the end!), that time I drove (read powerslid) through the snow to work when I knew the office was shut just to see if the car could (it could) (see avatar), and that time everytime I go to drive it and think what a beautiful sturdy wagon it's been.

So I'd like to thank everyone in this small and friendly out-post of a Fiat Forum for all the help they've provided to me and others. To the continued owners I hope you have many more happy miles in this fantastic little car.
