Hi All
Going to fit new brake shoes and adjusters this weekend and would like your thoughts on something. When putting it all back together should I grease, copper-slip or leave dry the threads on the adjusters?
Regards Stephen.

Just a hint.. of copperslip,
too much and you'll risk it (getting HOT and) dripping..

of course brake dust will still stick to it in time,

but my experience of sticky mechanisms:eek:, means DRY is NOT an option..,

Thanks for your reply Charlie that's wot I will do then. Then next weekend I will take it for its M.O.T. Hopefully all should be bedded it by then. Kind regards Stephen.

Just did ours last weekend.:)

May help... Handbrake cable adjustment can be reached by removing rear centre console ashtray... Gripping the console here and pulling upwards.
(It should just pop off)
Disconnect the 4wd switch wiring + remove for access to adjuster.

Good luck(y)

OK so brakes done now and the hand brake works on both sides now (only worked on right hand side due to rusted away adjuster and not taking up any adjustment) thanks for info received.
Regards Stephen.

Hi Jonnie,

By "warning light"... Presuming you mean brake warning + not engine management etc.

If so.. Perhaps check brake fluid level first. If low could mean you have a leak which needs fixing asap (before air gets into system + causes brake loss)... Or just worn out pads/shoes (time to replace).

Then maybe check handbrake is fully disengaged.... Could be cable is too tight.

"Shoe adjusters" are first moved in for new shoes then adjusted out so you can only just put the drum back over them. (loosen the handbrake cable before this).
When assembled... Press the footbrake.
Tighten handbrake cable (not too tight).
Test + if ok.. Use + wait for bedding in.

Hope this helps.
