Hi there! Very first post on this fine Fiat forum!

Just picked up my first Sedici yesterday (2007,1.6,4x4,55K,spotless! for €7K) and I'm loving it! First thing I did was to research the car and I found this forum with loads of good info about the car.

I'm reading people say there Sedici has timing chains but mine has the good old-fashioned timing belt. So I'm wanting to know when did they change over to a chain? and at how many miles (or KM) do I need to change my belt at??

Thanks for your time and I look forward to making this a regularly visited site on my inter-web stopoffs. (y)

Hi there,

Update: Have been talking to someone who knows more then me and he says You can't see the timing chain in question and what I was looking at wasn't the timing belt at all. I'm talking about the belt that connected to the air-con clutch...

Yep GT20 - your 1.6 will be chain-driven. Just get the tension checked around 72k

Called in at Suzuki today to look at the 2L diesel version; they didn't have one but apparently the 2L diesel engine is VW (doubt this) but they didn't know if it was belt or chain; said they would find out.....

thanks Nello
suzuki wanted £11500 plus my immaculate 1.6 4wd Sedici (2008 only 13000 miles) for the 2L diesel!!
I don't really want to change but would like a bit more power. Is there any way of increasing the power output?

Tuning companies like Angel Tuning can upgrade by chipping etc. but the most performance gains are with the Diesels. I would say with the nature of the car and the 1.6 Petrol unit theres probably no significant gain in power to be made. Why not simply upgrade to the 1.9 Sedici? The multijet unit is the same as used in many Fiats/Alfa's - ECU re-maps on that can easily achieve 30-50+ BHP ...... Would be crazy to go for the SX4 at those prices. The Sedici is not exactly a performance car - I find the 1.6 unit perfectly acceptable for round town etc.
