Hi All

I bought a 2009 1.9 Diesel Sedici last month. The fuel economy was set at ltrs per 100km and the instruction in the manual didn’t work. Anyway I found the solution on line so I thought I share it in case someone else was stuck too.

Turn the ignition switch to the “ACC” or “ON” position while holding in the
Display button to the right of the fuel economy display.

The display will blink.

Push the Display button in quickly to change the display from km to MPG

Push the Display button again for a blank display

Push the Display button again for km

(Every push the Display button will continue to cycle through these 3 options).

Once you are on the desired display push the Display button in and hold for more than 2 seconds, and the unit display will stop blinking and the display will stay on.

Done, hope that helps someone.

Wish the MPG could be an average figure ( on a 2006 ) and not an instantaneous...

Your wish is my command! :)

Just push the display button to the right off the MPG readout, and cycle through Off, Instantaneous, and Average.

This is information that has been covered with historical posts. However, it is very commendable that a forum member should post his findings, for the benefit of people who may be struggling.

… I'm still struggling. I just don't see that 'average' option.
I wonder if it wasn't an option on the 2006 model, as there seems to be no mention in the handbook.
Or maybe it's just me?!

Hold the function button for a few seconds to reset all the options.

Whilst stationery, the instant fuel consumption read out will either be a series of dashes or 99.9 m.p.g. Your average m.p.g. overall, will either be on the next click, or continue through the options and it should be the one before the instant read out.

I do not think for one moment that the 2006 model would not have had this option installed, if anything would have been missing it would have the the instant read out.

Well … called me old fashioned, but I still cannot find a 4th option. It just seems to cycle through 3 options.
Anyone else got a 2006 petrol model?

I guess you have a problem with the unit; because I have never known a car that only gives you a readout of instant consumption. Suggest you use the traditional method of finding out what your consumption is. Fill your tank to the very top of the pipe, travel around 300 miles, and refill to the same level. Divide the number of litres by 4.546 to convert to gallons, and then divide the number of miles travelled, using the trip meter, by the number of gallons consumed.

For example a car that has travelled 328 miles and requires 27.4 litres to fill up is worked out as follows.

27.4
___ = 6.02 gallons. 328

4.546

Sorry continuation '''''''''

328 miles divided by 6.02 = 54.48 m.p.g.

I am sorry for stating the obvious in this calculation, but it may be useful to other people who read the thread. I am amazed at the number of people who get confused .

I only get 3; km, mpg and ---
It's not the end of the world - just that average is more useful.

Sorry Piers, I do not understand your last post. Does your readout include Kilometers ?

hello,
Yes it does...
So it cycles through... km1000, then mpg, then ---.
Then back to km1000.
And the mpg option only shows instantaneous.
P.

Sorry but I give up on this one; regret I cannot help you. Perhaps you should give a Fiat dealer a call and try and pick their brains; good luck.

Piers, to change the settings of your readout...

1 Start with engine off and key out.
2 hold down the button next to the readout.
3 Put key in ignition and rotate to first notch.
4 The readout should start flashing and you can press the button to run through the different units.
5 When you're on the one you want, hold it down and it'll stick.

There may be a better description on this forum because I think we've covered it before but that's basically what to do.

The three options you get in normal operation are OFF, instantaneous in A UNIT, and Average in the SAME UNIT.

You are of course spot on CMM !!!! I thought Piers had already done this conversion but it appears not. I did not fully understand his description of the problem, which I now hope he is able to rectify !!

I think the my car does show average ( 2006 ).
When I press 'the button', turn the ignition, keep pressing, the display doesn't flash.
I seem to recall that the car manual makes no mention of 'average' either.
Would love to hear if any 2006 1.6 owners think they DO get an average…
Piers.

Piers. I think you need to start the process with the ignition key out of the unit. Then press and keep pressed the button on your instrument panel.
Then enter the key, and turn it just one move; at this point your options should start flashing and allow you to enable m.p.g.
