Hi all, 1st post for me here.:)
I have had a sedici 1.9 tdi Diesel since new (Summer 2008).We have now covered 13,500 miles.
The local dealer has just fixed the dreaded - '1st and 2nd non-selective when cold gears', after keeping the car for nearly 3 weeks ! New syncro on 1st and 2nd fitted.Much better now ! :)

When I went to collect the vehicle back, they said they weren't 100% happy with a drone / vibration when you ease off the gas. They said to have it back for a week or two and see how it felt.To be honest I can't remember if it was there in the first place and just the 'roughness' of a diesel engines rev's coming down from the applied torque ?
I'm in two minds whether to return it in the new year..........
If anyone on here has a 1.9 diesel, do you get this vibe when you let off the accelerator ? If its how they are, then fine, but while its still under warranty I need to be sure.Any Ideas please ??

Hi, i get that a bit on mine when the car is still cold. Not noticeable once it is up to temperature though. Think it's just diesel.

Thanks Chris for the quick reply !
I too have noticed the car is much quieter and slicker once warmed up.

I didn't want to take it back in if its normal. It feels like a vibration through the engine mounts perhaps.Looks like it may be common with the diesel model then.....;)

I have an 08 diesel with similar mileage and I find that the lift off vibration is worrying sometimes. Also using reverse gear does something similar, making me think it might be the engine mounts. A friend of mine had a brief look and said they appeared fine, but he said he didn’t look carefully at the bushes. I am very interested to hear what your garage says about the matter.

Wow, this is really spooky!!

I test drove a 09 plate diesel today with only 4k miles on it and the lift off vibration was really noticable so I decided to look on hear to see if anyone has felt similar and here it is, top of the list.

It was so bad that my legs felt slightly numb after a couple of mile test drive. It has really put me off buying it as although I know it should be covered under warrenty the dealer is non Fiat and I don't want to buy a car with a known problem.

My current car (Skoda Fabia Vrs) is a diesel and has no such problems and a test drive in a 56 plate diesel Sedici a few weeks ago, was a real pleasure.

This all sounds more severe than I get on mine. For me I can only get slight vibration when i'm in 4x4 lock and slowing down in first without braking. Mine is a 56 plate with 57k on the clock.

Hi, Just brought a Sedici 1.9 tdi and certainly notice the vibration when the car is cold, had it check at the dealer but they said there was nothing wrong and just put it down to being a diesel. Bit worried as syncro on first and second gear very notchy when cold but the dealer says records say the recall has been carried out??? First is especially bad, I'm wondering if it has actually been done. Has problem totally gone with your Sedici?
Thanks Steve I

we have a 1.6 petrol and our gear stick vibrates around 2300rpm when accelerating ....... for a good while now ...and it gets louder and louder....

the only way to stop it , is holding stick(n)

I have noticed that my Sedici is a completely different drive when the Weather is Warm.It is much smoother.Diesel Sedici's take about 6 to 8 miles to warm up proper in the cold Weather. My mx5 eunos is fully warm after less than a mile !
I am starting to think this 'vibration' is defo down to the engine mounts.Rubber softens up when warm and therefore would become better at absorbing / dampening............

Think your right about the rubber engine mounts, i wonder if the gear box mounts and suspension rubbers have a part to play too. You can by after-market bushes made from different compounds, don't think they have them for the Sedici but can't help wonder if they would make a difference! Mine is much better when warm but you would have thought Fiat would have ironed out the problem prior to launch!!!!

Sorry Steve I missed your earlier question about the Gearbox.

Its 90% better.-(I don't think the gearbox was the smoothest around in the first place - notchy).
On cold days I had to stop the car completely to even get 1st in.Not even would it go in at 2mph ! and 2nd used to crunch.
Now all the gears go in (but still easier when warm).
I would advise you to follow this up if under warranty.
I can see you are in Stafford, I am in Wolverhampton and used Guest Alfa/Fiat in W'hall. They had the car for over 2 weeks ! Trying to sort it.They got there in the end.
Get it looked at mate.(y)
