hi

ive got a 07 sedici, only had it for 6 weeks, and for about the past week i been having trouble losing power when i accelarate uphill, and just yesterday the clutch completely went while i was driving,

ive read that there is a 3yr manufacturers warranty but the 3rd year is with the dealer, which is arnold clark.

i spoke to arnold clark and they said they cant tell me if its covered by warranty until they see it, but im worried that they will just say its not covered so i will have to pay.

i was always under the impression that a 3yr warranty means you dont have to pay for 3years for any repairs,

the car has done 14,000 miles and i find it difficult to understand how a clutch would need replacing after 2 and a half yrs and 14,000 miles, it must be a maufacturers problem, musnt it???

can i go direct to fiat? or do i have to fight it out with the dealer?

a mate of mine who is a mechanic had a look at it and said it might cost me about £500, but with a main dealer that could be a lot more

can anyone give me any advice please.

Sedici has a FULL 3 years manufacturer warranty, not a third year dealer warranty. (Its the same as the Suzuki the vehicles based on). Read your service book for details.

Check that if the car was used as a rental car as Arnold Clark seem to purchase used Sedici that were formerly Hire cars. I only found out that mine was an ex rental car when I got the paperwork through from the DVLA and there has been another couple of people on this formum who had the same problem.

A warranty only covers manufacturing faults, no matter how long it is for. If the clutch has failed due to a manufacturing fault, then it will be covered. If however it has worn out, then it will not.

I have seen a car need a clutch replacement, through wear, 26 miles after the previous one, so by that standard 14K is quite good.

Cheers
