Hi there, hope some one can help me.
I have purchased a canbus 2-1 upgrade alarm that is to be installed tomorrow by an installer. He has told me that on the canbus on the van it needs to be switched to allow the alarm to work on the van using the original key. He told me to take the van to a fiat dealer, they have told me that they know nothing and told me to call two other firms that they work with. One said that they have never heard this and the other said that there is things on the canbus system that can be switched like for remote start and satnav but nothing for alarms, and any alarm should work. I told the installer this and he is sure it won't work, but he will install it and leave me the spec sheet to take to fiat so they can carry out the work. I am just wondering if this is true or not? If so can I get an auto electrician to do the work as fiat don't seem to know about this. The guy says they need to plug a machine onto the van canbus system to carry out the work, would and auto electrician be able to do this? If not and it is specific fiat do it who can I turn to as I have now called fiat and two other companies regarding this matter.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi Mate
The installer is correct you will need someone with the Lexia programming set up
Most commands are already on the can except arm and disarm commands
this is needed to arm and disarm the alarm.
You do this via the can use the lexia to tell the van it has an alarm and it turns on the comands the alarm needs to work properly
As for Fiat not knowing this Shame on them !!!!!!

Regards Ian

Hi there,
Thanks for the advice. Had it done. It was a clifford 330X 2-1 can bus alarm installed, the installer showed me a piece of paper in the boxing which said after the system is installed it needs to be activated with peugeot planner 2000 diagnostic tool for peugeot and with examiner smart for fiat. Please contact an authorised service.
So I let the installer install it and he said if it did not work he had something on his computer that may do it but not sure. After a while he managed to activate it by using the software. So happy days it all works. As you say it is a shame that fiat do not know about it but thanks to the installer saved me a trip to find a fiat dealer that knew about it, as I had already contacted the local ones to me.
Anyway thought I would post to let you know how I got on and thanks to Ian with the help.
Cheers.
