Hi
Im in the process of finishing my alarm fit and am about to run the power off the red/white courtesy wire (needed for current sensing) Can i tap into this wire with a snap connector without disconnecting battery as i dont wanna risk resetting the ECU.

Thanks

yeh the problem is snap connectors are naff and prone to coming loose and not giving a good connection if you can you want to use a scalpel to remove a 10mm lenght of sheathing from the live supply wire (dont let it short ((Ideally pull the interior light fuse then it'll be dead whilst you work))

then tin with solder

next strip about 2cm of the alarm link wire wrap this arround the tinned section then solder the joint then wrap well in tape so it not only insulates the solder joint but supports it and the wire to stop it been pulled off..

Cheers. I been trying to find what numberfuse is for the interior lights. Don't seem to match what haynes says.

That won't help because other things then to run off of that aswell (things that run when the alarm would be on).

Also why do you need to connect to interior light? For current sensing it should be able to do this through the battery, and if its to tell when the doors are open it should be connected to the doors, as if the interior light is turned off or the bulb blows it won't work properly surly?

Im gonna run it off the courtesy light circuit at the doors. The alarm states that it shouldnt be connected direct to the battery but to another constant live source.

Connect it directly to the battery then! Otherwise it will only detect current draw from the circuit its connected to, which might not be a good thing.
