Ive picked up one of these of ebay for £30 which i have now received:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-Fiat-...rkparms=72:12|39:1|65:12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Just reading through the instructions im a little confused, i have standard central locking but no alarm. I have found a thread asking the same before but im still confused, bearing in mind ive never done anything like this before! :bang:

wiringtx4.jpg

I have 5 clips so i presume i only have to connect 5 wires (im not even sure how to use these clips properly, do i just connect the end of the wire on the unit to the middle of the wire required in the car and push to join? I read that indicators may be a little hard to do, if so i could probably live without.

A simple explanation/guide from someone with more knowledge would be great. (y)

Thanks in advance!

Anyone? Ive searched the forum, looked at the sticky at the top of this section which is often referred too and i still dont get it. Was hoping to fit it this weekend but just need confirmation on what connections need to be made. Im happy to upload pictures of the wires/bits if needed.

Thanks

It's quite easy to install, but indeed the guide is really annoying. I've installed this kit 2 days ago, so it's still fresh in my memory. You need to connect the existing cables to the new cables with the little black clips. Just push both wires into the metal part of the clip and close it up with the top part of the connector. No need to use the stripped end, just a few cm down the wire, cut off the extra part afterwards.
You need to take the fuse-box out in total, as you also need to be on the rear side of it. to do so, remove the protection part under your stear too.

Just read which number of the connector needs to be fit to what number of the locking system. The numbers are combined to a color on page 2 of the guide. if you got any questions, feel free to PM me.

Picture number 2 confuses me a bit. Do wires 3 and 39 go in one side of the clip and wire 24 in the other?

In the second picture it shows you need to connect 3 wires to the wire on position 20. If you look at the AH connector closely, you'll see that position is empty. You need to push the loose empty wire you got with the M320, into that position. It should be really easy to fit it in position.
After that, connect wire 3 - 24 - 39 to the black wire you just pushed into position 20. The connection clip should fit all 4 wires at once (2 per side).

Note that the M320 connector has given each wire a number, which you can see explained on the second page of the guide. There you can see what number corresponds to what color.

Good Luck guys

my M320 has just arrived!
Never done anything like this before - just had a read of the instructions, and of this thread which i think will help.
Just one thing, before i go out to the car - If i dont have an alarm, do i only do the middle 2 pictures from the instructions? As i only have 5 clips :S

I've just realised I have no idea what i'm doing.

Can someone please help. Which connections do i need to make? I can't possibly make them all, as i only have 5 black clips.

Do i need to use Positive or Key Positive, or both??

I'm assuming the connections i need to make are:

From Picture 1:
2 - red (Positive)

From Picture 2:
3 - black (Negative)
24 - red/white
39 - light blue/white
& that little black wire

From Picture 3:
37 - light blue/yellow
38 - red/yellow
14 - light blue

But then I'm left with one extra light blue wire (14) and key positive, and the LED... Is that right if i dont have the alarm? Although i thought the cable for the LED also acted as the aerial ??!

I haven't got the security light attached, so that's not needed. You indeed are a few clips short. I took some of my alarm (got exactly the same parts) and am going to buy some loose connectors in an electronics store.
You will at least need + - and the open & close wire of the central locking.
Having you're lights blinking isn't nessesary but ofc very usefull. I'm not too sure about the key position, not sure what it's used for in this package.

Shame they send scotch locks or IDC insulation displacement connectors
when solder would be the best way
Just shows main dealers dont do it right
and Meta products which is what they are should not supply these

OH dear main dealers are not what they seem

Thats a unfair statement,I know many dealers that do 'do it right',using solder & heatshrink (or amalgamating tape) to thatcham standards.

Not sure what you mean i dont knock solder etc
but i do knock scotch locks that is not Thatcham
are we at wrong angles with each other

This bit.

Sorry mate if that offends it is not ment to

Just i have seen many main dealer Vauxhall produce terrible installs
not that you or your company will
i believe you are in the trade
but scotch locks are the pants
Nokia have just stopped sending them out with there hands free kits
but in there spec wires should be soldered so why send them beats me

I dabble;)

Fiat do good course for accessory fitting so i'd be surprised if scotchlocks are used. They have there uses for temp repair etc but as for installation purposes does it really take much longer to use a portable soldering iron & piece of mind.

Cant speak for all garages but Fiat ones tend to dish out this kind of job to sparkies/level 2 techs or the DET.

That is nice to hear unfortunatly not all garages are bothered to train people.
generally its watch Fred and he will show you how to do it

I heard from one garage that i now do work for the company they used prior to me sent one chap out to fit an immobilisor
he had to ring office to ask what colour wire to cut
only connected one circuit rather than thatcham 2 cuts
left the garage and was called back becouse the car would not start

Left a multiplug out (n) so he never even tested it
That was a garage that was VSIB approved a worry yes !

Cheers Ian

Heard similar things many times, unfortunally VSIB (and was it MECP) / thatcham dont do enough to enforce the regulations.

That is the way it is
I have done this for 16 years and only been asked for VSIB 4 times

not worth the 3-4 hundred pounds to register

Friend of mine registered with them and they never even checked an install he had done
Just glad to pick the cheque up ????

Bad news some times the industry is money driven
