Key coding

Hello,
My Brava has a remote alarm, with the fob built into the key.
The batteries went flat and according to a few people on here, the key needs to be recoded to the alarm.
Fiat can provide codes for £17 +vat, then want to charge me £45 for the encoding... The Car starts so the code that is built into the key works, so its just the alarm side of things.
Does anyone know how to do the encoding???

Cheers
