I own a 2002 scudo with intermitant powerloss/ juders and black puffs of smoke from exaust. The van can alternate from going well into the 80/90 mph area for a week to strugling to 65/70mph for a day or two. New air filter/ fuel filter/ serviced etc no dash lights coming on.

Have put two lots of injector cleaner in the tank to no avail

when the powerloss clears it goes like a rocket for a few seconds. No fluid leaks or split hoses. 55,000 miles.
I've been reading with interest all your queries. Can any one help

I also have dead fan problem quoted £190 by fiat dealer eeek. Found it with fuse box what idiot hid it there!!!

What a great site

Re:fuse box

well maybe I was a bit harsh on fiat i should have rtfm'ed before opening the ol gob on fuse boxes. Owner handbook page 191 clearly shows where it is. glove compartment

As for the power loss I wonder if there is some kind of butterfly valve restricting air to the engine temporairly possibly a cold start thingy gone wrong?

mot's coming up so hopefully it will be doing it when at the dealers and their diagnostic can go "oh ah dont know" what little faith i have. And me having owned so many fiats, shame.

Hello T14086 fiat tech. my faithlessness is in the machines not the mechanics whom I not worthy to walk in oily foot of. Slap gripped spanner on chest. I come from the world of 128s, 124s, 126sx2, 131s, x19s x2, stradas x2 where the computer means nada!! ha!.

But now I'm here in the creek with out a fiat tech to row with.

Could it be the scudo's egr as suggested in fiat multipla forum nearby. They suggest next time it happens to take it out of gear and floor it! this should get rid of prob temporarily if it is the egr that needs cleaning or replacing.
Does this sound reasonable?

is that a bass or lead guitar your playing and hey! your desk is as messy as mine
