I've got the 1.9D scudo van. We all know it's gutless, but I was in a hole last year, needed a van asap and this Scudo was the cleanest one in my price range.
Very now and again, very, very infrequently on a long run, the engine would lose power, generally when going up hills and seem to go into a limp mode. No acceleration, needing to downchange. Go downhill again and it would clear.
I recently bought a caravan and the Scudo can tow it ok, but it really accentuates this lack of power on hills.
I've noticed it is only when the engine is hot.
There are two points here>
1 - I've been pointed to the EGR valve so I've taken it out and given it a quick clean (didn't seem that dirty) it didn't make any difference and still does it so one option is to replace the EGR valve.
2 the other option I've been looking at is replacing the engine for something with a lot more grunt. I've been having a quick read online and since the Scudo/Expert/Dispatch is essentially the same vehicle, is there an engine from one of those manufacturers that would fit into my van without too much fettling.
I don't want to get rid of the van cos it's racked out to my spec and got various mods I really don't want to take out again.
Also as it's my work vehicle, it can't be off the road too long, so an alternative engine that would slot straight in is what I'm really looking for.
