Hi,
I have the above van that was driving perfect until this morning the battery
light came on but very dim.

Checked the charge rate 14.3 volts , drove the van over 50 miles drives fine but light still dim.
The only other fault I noticed is when key is in first position but not ignition light is still dim and heater fan runs and air conditioning pulls in. It never did this before.
I even disconnected lead to alternator and switched on still the same with dim light.
Any help would be great. 120k miles no problems before this.

Thanks Steve.

Hi,
Ive done a bit of googeling of my problem with the van but with no luck.
The only thing I keep finding is the brown double relays are known for faults.

What are the symptoms of a double relay fault? also does any body know of a code reader that works with these vans.
ive got a reader that only works on the engine part of the ecu.No mil light on so reader detects nothing.
Van has also done another 50 odd miles today with no further problems ( fingers crossed)

Thanks.

I've had this problem for about three months. Sometimes it comes on very dim, sometimes not. Having the headlights on seems to make it more likely. But it seems to charge okay. A very peculiar fault.

Start with some basics, inspect/clean/grease and tighten all earth leads in engine bay. I'm sure I've seen this before but I can't remember what I did to fix it.

Thanks for your help.
It does seem a strange fault.
The bit that puzzels me is as soon as the ignition is switched on the heater fan runs and if left on air con clutch pulls in.
This only used to happen when engine had started.
I'm going to have a look this week for stuck in relays.
Thanks Steve
