Hi, I have a 2006 1.9 TD ? scudo, the problem I have is when I get to between 50 and 65 mph the engine starts to "hold back" as if it is loosing power if I then press the throttle a little further it seems to clear. It sometimes does it when I accelerate through about 30mph but is at it`s worse at the speeds mentioned earlier. Any advice would be much appreciated. Dajam:)

Start with basics a little here
Could br a fuel related issue
Low fuel pressure / poor flow due to blocked fuel filter?

Could be a flat spot on the throttle pedal (if flyby wire)

Is the flat spot affecting all gears accessible in that range?

Could always try disconnecting the maf sensor (if it has one) and see if the flat spots have gone or not (will put enginr light on)

Hi Ziggy, thanks for getting in touch. I have recently had the van serviced and the fuel filter was changed, the problem was happening before before the service but continues after, I also had a small oil leak on the inlet manifold repaired and the garage thought that may have caused the problem due to air leaking but it is still happening. Could you tell me where I would find the Maf. Also the throttle pedal does seem a little sloppy. Dajam

Also meant to say I have not noticed any problem changing gears.

Hi guys , I'm after abit of advice really I have a 2002 fiat scudo that I brought a few months back and when I took it on to the motorway / carriage way the van seems to have no guts as if it gets up to a certain speed an then hits a wall , it will do 60mph in 4th gear an 70 in 5th gear , it kicks out black smoke until it his the "wall" an then it stops smoking and will not go any faster ,
Anyone have any idea what it could be ?
It doesn't help when I can't even get a manual for it ?
Cheers

Had exactly the same symptoms when my engine was rebuilt. Turned out the Turbo boost sensor/accuator mountedby the air filter had priviously been changed to the wrong sort (one they had lying around)...so this might be a possible port of call if yours is faulty.

Ok to anyone interested the problem got worse so stripped air filter off, took EGR valve off much better ordered new EGR fitted it van goes wonderfull just in case anyone else out there has the same problem as it seems no one on here has ever come across it before.

so it is a Turbo - or an atmo..?? you didn't seem to know a few months ago..

No I did not have a clue what it was, but a mechanic told me it was a non turbo. After I had sorted it I spoke the mechanic again and told him what the problem had been he told that it would have acted the same weather it was turbo or not.I am certainly no mechanic but I just started from the outside and worked inwards .

I drive a jumpy 1.9d without turbo and experianced the same problem. The repairshop removed the egr, and the problem has never returned :)
