Hello
Very glad I found this forum hope you can guys can help me out.

My Scudo was running fine then conked out with no warning.
Turns over on the starter fine. But throes up P0230 Primary fuel pump circuit every time I crank it.

I can hear the the pump in the tank running grand and stopping as normal. When I switch on the ignition with the pipes going from the filter to the high pressure pump disconnected there's a healthy flow of diesel.
I have changed the high pressure pump but no joy.
I have checked the voltage to the low pressure pump in the tank at the plugs leading into and it is at battery voltage.
I changed the fuel pump double relay.
I am getting fuel to the injectors.

I short it seems like the fuel system is working fine. I am running out of ideas now.

There is a plug going into the top of the high pressure pump. This is giving me about 3.5 volts. Is that correct?
My next plan is to investigate the stop solenoid ( even though I seem to have fuel at the injectors which would rule that out?) but I can't find it.
What do you guys think? Is it worth investigating the low pressure pump. Mine is the combi so could be a pain in the ass.
Any ideas and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check diesel leak off at injectors. Injector may be sticking and causing low pressure. The injector returning the most fuel is the faulty one.
If you have access to diagnostics, check for crank signal and fuel pressure at fuel rail if possible.

No. Refuses to start.

Haven't got the kit for a leak back test.
Checked the injectors with the multimeter though. The first one was reading 1.5 ohms. The second two gave no continuity haven't checked the 4th.

Had a van with same code a while back it was fuel rail pressure sensor not working correctly

Sorted it.
Broken wire to the fuel pressure regulator. Typical!!

Nice one.

If theres anyway you could post a photo of what you fixed that would be great. Worth checking on mine. But ive had cold starting problems for a while and only just experienced the stalling today.

Actually dont think that could be my problem as i can get it going with a squirt of easi start

Will put up a pic tomorrow if I can.

Basically on the back of the high pressure pump there is a white plug. Its hard to see as it points down towards the ground and the fuel filter is in the way. One of the wires on that had snapped where they enter the loom.

Thanks for that...ive decided to change the glow plugs as i had them and put it all back together. Just noticed now that theres no power to the plugs to preheat...Is there a fuse for these?

They'll have a relay, small black unit located beside ECU, inside drivers side wing. Google Fiat Scudo heater or glow plug relay for a picture.

So today i checked the relay and that clicking on and off nicely with the ignition and is sending voltage to the glowplugs so that was fine. I then decided to take off the fuel pressure regulator give it a clean and once back on my van started! took for test drive and no stalling unlike the last couple of days and even earlier today. Stopped it and tried starting it again and didnt want to without easi start. Whipped it off again...5min job quick clean and started again!!!

If and when it happens again I will give the electrics to it a wiggle as a previous post found duff wiring on his.

Otherwise i will have to order another and take a chance on it...£80 on ebay, half the cost at eurocarparts

So having swapped the fuel pressure regulator i still have the same problems. Poor starting and occasional stalling. I did notice a lack of power this week though so am waiting for a fuel leak off kit to arrive so that i can see if i have a dodgy injector.

Does anyone know how to remove the gear knob from a 2005 Fiat Scudo van. 2.0 with reverse pull knob. Thanks.

Getting back to the thread, I tested the injectors and one was seriously over fueling. Fitted a second hand injector and after 4 days of stop start driving, its starting great everytime and hasnt stalled once. So dodgy injector was the culprit.
