Several recent posts might be related to this, but I haven't found the answer in them.
I'm told in the early 2000's there were two versions of the 1997 cc JTD engine. The simpler one with aprox 94 hp, and an intercooled one with aprox 109 hp. (Sources differ on the exact engine power, maybe due to using hp, ps, or bhp)
I also notice some Scudo's from that time are called "X9 JTD EL" while some are called "2.0 JTD". Both have 1997 cc.
My question: is the name the key to identifying whether it's a 94 or 109 hp, or does one need to look if there's an intercooler, or is the intercooler not even a reliable way to differentiate the engines ?
Several mechanics I spoke to deny that there is more than one version, they say the 1997 cc JTD all have 109/110 hp.

Thanks if someone can solve the mystery !

X9 jtd el engine will be the 1905 cc better known as 1.9 jtd hope this helps

Thanks, masters, for responding to my query.

In the meantime I found elsewhere on this forum a list of engine codes that supposedly identify the engine type and power. (WJY=1.9D/69hp, RHX=2.0JTD/8 valve/94hp, RHZ=2.0JTD/8 valve/109hp, RHW=2.0JTD/16 valve/109hp.
No mention of an engine code for the 1.9TD/90hp engine, even though there definitely are Scudos with that engine around.
I'm not totally confident that these engine codes are correct because elsewhere I found a reference to the RHX 109hp engine which contradicts the list above.
Also I found references to a RHM engine.

Anyway, after some more research I think the difference between the 94 and 109 hp engines the presence of an intercooler. Apparently at first the engine was made without intercooler and had 94hp. A later variant has an intercooler and 109hp.
I've looked at a few 2.0JTD Scudos and they all had an intercooler, so maybe only very few of the non-intercooled 94hp engines where made.

Hope this information is useful to others who were wondering.

Intercoolers r only fitted to turbo charged engines, I have known these to rot and break off, then the pipes are joined together without intercooler,

Hello all,
This is quite interesting. Although slightly off topic, I am seeking similar information but on the most recent Doblo vans.
As far as I know there are three engines, 2 diesel and 1 petrol but cannot find too much detailed info on them
