Thought I would refer this to my learned colleagues here. I have just purchased and fitted a new heater fan (from ebay £70)...worked first time...fully adjustable through the speed range. About a week into using it went to mental speed then stopped. I can still use but needs a lot of fiddling with the slider.

I am unsure of what control electronics sit in the fan behind the blades and the aluminium spiky heat sink...and what are present in the slider control box...ergo should I buy a new control box too...recall mention of a resistor that can be replaced by soldering...but think this is only when the fan is always stopped or full blast...mine has some speed control but not smoothly. any thoughts guys?

My blower fan was permanently on... bought a new control unit for about 113euro and installed it on the fan and it worked fine again.
