What a drama!
lost my key to van(scudo 2.0 jtd) and to van vault, had a stroke after coming out of hospital nearly had another over cost of replacement!
got an electrician to look at it and he removed a box from under dash not to be seen again tried phoning not picking up ,cut the van vault to pieces with a grinder but how can I get van working? shouldn't have paid him

Got the sparky today and he bought box back tried for a while to reprogram but to no avail told me he can refurbish box but will cost another £100 cant believe may have to scrap it because of a eight quid key:-( .Just a thought if I got an after market cpu does it bypass the inhibitor? any help grateful

Welcome to the forum. Phone a FIAT dealer, give them your reg/VIN and ask them to order a new key for you. You may need to provide proof of ownership. They're expensive for a reason - ie. they're very secure. Some autolocksmiths can sort out a new key, but they need to connect to the ECU which is maybe what this guys tried but seems like he didn't have much luck. Whereabouts in the country are you? ponsaloti is our resident expert and is based in Benfleet if that's anywhere near you.

The box he's had out will be the immobiliser code box.
All he had to do was read the codes from the memory inside it and
program a new chip ready to start the van. No further programming would be needed. Just plug it all back together and away you go.
If he is now saying it needs refurbishing and it was working fine before
that sounds a little suspicious to me.
Who has the box now you or him? If you have the box your more than welcome to send it over to me (I do this sort of thing all day everyday) If its recoverable I'll do it for you free of charge. If nothing else just to satisfy my curiosity.

Many thanks to minirib, a true gentlemen got parcel today and it works! just got to put it back together again. looks like pretty much stuffed on site now cause of medical history but looking through members vans might change it to a camper;-).Its been a good van to me got totally depressed at the thought of scrapping it. once again many thanks.
