PLEASE can someone help me...Fiat Scudo el 1.9d 2003 i bought this van last week when i collected the van it was running drove it home turned engine off, and back on worked fine, but next morning it wouldnt start. I have changed Glow plugs and Battery i noticed earth wire broke so i have fixed that i noticed the throttle valve opening solenoid valve (EGR) there should be 2 pipes comeing from this but there is no tubeing dont know where they go, I have downloaded diagrams but still no help. And there is a plug that is not attached anywhere i dont know what this is i can put a picture up for reference if anyone can help me. Not sure if its cold start i know the van runs because i drove it home when purchased it.

Give it a service and start from there make sure glow plug relay working and power to glow plugs some vans have extra plugs hanging about

was the van stone cold when you bought it..?

do basic service items, then read fault codes,

bleed off some diesel from filter.. possibility of water in there..,

when i pick up the van it was running.so when i got home i turn engine off then started up again it started 1st time.then next day wont start so its got to be some thing to do with cold start.its really doin my head in .

my fault code reader say no codes so that cant find anything.not good

Glow plugs want tested first will not start if no good is starter whizzing round and check battery

If you go and check the glow plugs check the valve clearances at the same time I work on these dw8b engines a lot and have found the inlet clearances when cold there is no gap at all but when hot the head expands and you get a bit of clearance when hot that why its ok when hot
Bought a 05 plate van for scrap price for same.problems because main dealer told the owner it wanted a engine !!!

cheers dave when i bought the van it was running fine, but have noticed there was plugs unattached and think some pipeing is missing., Could you tell me how i check what you said please.

If you have checked glow plugs you have remove part of inlet manifold when that is removed you have to remove cam cover and you then can check valve clearance's is there any oil in the water header tank , can you post picture of engine as will help me see if it has had a engine swap?

Have u checked timing belt in picture cant see it

Hi the belt is fine. Think it has got something to do with cold start.

Have u tried easy start or brake cleaner quick squirt down air intake and see if it starts

yes try it it still woundnt start.its really doing my head in

Have u tried the cut off switch that cuts engine from starting if u have bump it has a red button on top in engine bay

how do you turn it on and off.am new to diesel

Look under bonnet to theback left its a switch thing with a red button on top press it down if it doesnt move its ok
