Hi all, just been and picked up a 51 plate 2.0 jtd lwb, nice van except that on the straight, it drives fine though a fair amount of noise at 60 mph, however, when I go around a left hand bend or roundabout there is this noise coming from the offside-I believe, short of it sounding like a yeti trying to take my vehicle over, I have never heard such a noise, almost like someone has a 10lb lump hammer bashing away at the back end.

I thought, christ, what is that, I jacked it up and can see nothing out of place except that both the rear shocks are sporting their struts and the boots are non existent, any advice welcomed.

Thanks for reading.

Check that:

a) The spare wheel is secure and not clumping about, it may be loose in its cage.

b) The exhaust isn't loose or fouling on something and behaving like a yeti trying to take your vehicle over.

Both these things have caused me annoyance on a similar vehicle.

Hi, Thanks for that, I jacked it up this morning and found that the bushes on the large rod which goes across the axle to either side has a bush which is pretty much non existent, trouble is, I cannot locate the name for this actual bush, those arm bushes could do with replacing too, but what is that bar or rod called on this as I thought it was a torsion rod?

Many Thanks

Rear Beam is what my garage called it

Here is a diagram, are there bushes between the circled areas?

Hi there, I have exactly the same problem. Could you repost the diagram, it seems to be a broken link. Much appreciated.

FWIW: Knocking at rear. Supply & fit rear axle bushes. £90 labour £32 parts + the dreaded.

Just in case, but it looks like you have identified the rear beam bushes...but just make sure you do not have any heavy tools (wheel jack?) floating around inside on the wheel arches...I had this 5 years ago...turned out to be a 13 mm socket rolling around the back!
