Hi. I have a 2003 1.9d scudo with diesel knock. It's intermittent and I think it might be the advance solenoid. From reading the forum, I believe I should hear a crackling noise as I turn the key to start, which I don't. A solenoid on Ebay is approx 65 quid butwhere is it located please? Got tobe worth a try before pulling out injectors?

Just in case there is anyone reading this that might know, I should add that I have noticed the glow plug relay makes a couple of loud clicks approximately ten seconds after the engine has stopped. Is that normal or a symptom of the underlying problem?

If it comes to taking out injectors on an 03...do not waste your money, I am well down the path to have cam followers replaced...it took 3 weeks at a diesel specialist using a 20 ton puller...new injectors needed and a £970 labour bill...the engines out of the body and the head is awaiting restoration after finding a recon would cost over £1000...and there is still the garage to pay for removing the engine plus of course £300 a week to rent another Taxi to keep earning....with this hindsight now it would have been a replacement engine from the start
