I bought a brand new disabled capable Fiat Scudo Taxi from Scott Seats Kilmarnock September 2011 with 3 years warranty. after 10k it broke down ESP/ASR lights on and engine in limp mode , it was taken to my local Fiat garage for repair under warranty 3weeks later it was back in the garage with the same problem and was repaired by fiats technicians sent by case handlers in Staines London. It broke down at least a further 20 times with the same problem spending 3weeks at a time in the garage for repair and 3weeks on the road. I had no option but to trade it in resulting in a loss 0f £13k on the Fiat as it cost me £23k to buy not to mention loss of wages.
I had an independent assessor examine the work carried out by Fiat to assess Fiats work done as they were implying that the break downs were attributed to a different problem on each occasion I pointed out that a new vehicle should not have all these faults and that it was costing me loss of earnings I sent them a copy of the findings from the Independent assessor as they said they would have a look at compensation as they wont replace vehicle, they have previously offered me a free service as good will I have consulted a solicitor at home in England who says at the end of the day I will have to engage a Scottish solicitor and take Scott Seats to court. This will cost me at least £500 a trip to Glasgow every time to consult with the solicitor. Scott Seats say they only handled the conversion to turn the Scudo into a taxi and are not responsible for repairing the Fiat as it is warranted by Fiat who haven't got a clue how to fix it. I have now traded it in with a Loss of £12.k as it cost £21 500to purchase this heap . So be warned all you cabbies don't buy a cab from Scottish company's as you will have to deal through Scottish courts if you get a problem. While on the subject
!!! stay clear of Fiats AS THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO REPAIR THEM !!!
