Hi all. New to the forum as just bought a 2006 2.0 JTD with 56,000 miles on the clock. Just wondered if there are any common faults / issues with this engine that I should watch out for or that I can preempt. Would be grateful for any thoughts/advice.

Have the same Scudo...mines a Taxi and just turned 390000 miles. Regular service...Engine Oil, oil filter, air filter every 6000 miles. you look after it & it looks after you.

Looking at the mileage, assuming its true you will need a cambelt/water pump soon.

Had issues with fuel filter housing...needs to be put on really tight on a change...also the white nylon drain valve can weep diesel unless on tight, ptfe tape on the screw thread is useful here.

Biggest problem I have is the passenger sliding door....it has never closed at the top...just waiting a new top roller arm and will bend to pull it in (Need to have spare in case it breaks when I bend :D)

Keep changing the oil & filter, 9,000 miles seems OK - at least, mine's done over 180,000 miles so far...

Which oil do you use Andy (or anyone). As I have the 2.0jtd, 2004 which is a turbo, should I only use oil that says for turbo diesel?

The Castrol site recommends first choice Castrol Edge 5w/40 (price :eek:) which seems to be specifically for TDs. Then second choice, it recommends Magnatec 10w/40, which doesn't seem to mention TDs in the spiel.

So, recommended brands, grade? Oil specifically for TDs or not?

Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5W-40 Ester Synthetic Engine Oil around £40-50 online from https://www.opieoils.co.uk or phone 01209 202944

Its expensive, but so is a new Turbo :O) I tried some cheapo once and had some real music from the turbo before it blew...told oil must have been past its date...so good idea to check this out on anything you buy. I normally order 5 litres for the main change and also a couple of 1 litres for just in case.

I also pour two bottles of STP Injector cleaner into half a tank of fuel 2 or 3 times a year...you can feel the difference! I read somewhere that adding 2 stroke oil has similar but hesitant to try.

Other bits and bobs from same people;

OIL FILTER: UFI spin-on oil filter 23.439.00 -single SKU: 00011549

FUEL FILTER: UFI pleated paper filter element 26.003.00 -single SKU: 00012377

AIR FILTER: UFI air filter 30.067.00 -single SKU: 00013827

2004 2.0 jtd intercooler came off today driving along and I heard a rattle stopped and had a look intercooler was lying on ground luckily fuel pipes still on and ok fastened it back up with a bit wire for now so this might be worth while checking

Mine came off 3 times in puddles over a few months, like yours fuel unions held ok. I ended up securing under with multiple cable ties...been meaning to put the air scoop back on but seems to run OK...thats been for last two years.

whats air scoop cheers

Tis the black plastic thingymajig under the van nearside front that scoops air to the fuel cooler radiator within. Very susceptible to being ripped off if it touches ground water or other obstruction...I have been told our climate does not need this cooler...but the jury's still out on this and its been my excuse not to refit it!
