Hi all I have water dripping through the dash into the foot-well, initially i thought it may have been the windscreen seal but after speaking to a friend he seemed to think that due to the vans age it would have a heat activated seal on the windscreen and he says that they rarely leak. He suggested it was a blocked water resivour above nearside front wheel and the water is backing up and coming through the heating blower parts. I assume there is a bung in the wheel arch? how would i go about unblocking it? i am a tradesman so im sure i will be able to do it just my vehicle knowledge is a bit lacking!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks Liam

The usual point of leaking in these vans is the aerial, the water usualy comes in and finds its way through the framework down to either side. If you drop the interior light and stick your fingers inside the framework above you might feel traces of water or even see signs of rust looking up there. If that fails I would suggest getting somebody outside the van with a hose while you sit inside and try to find where the water is comming in.

Thanks mate ill have a look i recently changed the interior bulb and didnt notice any thing then but that was when it was bloody freezing so may have been frozen. It looks like the water is running through the wires behind the glove box but it could be getting in somewhere else. Ill check the aerial as you said.

I had the same problem about 3 years ago, it was a blocked rubber drain tube, i cut the end off with a pair of scissors as it was completely choked with leaves and so on. I am trying to remember what I did as the van is at home at the moment, I can't remember if I had to remove the grill beside the wiper arm of the passenger side and push the drain tube through. I will take a look tonight when I get home. I think if you look round about the top of the strut tower you will see where it comes out.

As I say I will have a look tonight when I get home if I get a chance.

Remove the grill / vent from beside the passenger wiper by pushing the clip at either side towards the windscreen & lift the vent away.

If you look down towards the bottom corner you will see a black rubber drain tube push it through and remove from underneath at the left hand side of the passenger side strut tower. As I said I cut the bottom of it to stop it blocking again, clean it and refit.

When the drain tube block the scuttle fills up with water and runs into the heater motor aperture.

That's assuming it is the problem but it sounds like it.

Easy job to do shouldn't take any more than 10 minutes.

THANK YOU for this advice - great post and exactly fixed my problem. I just used a water hose to blow water back up through the drain tube from where it drains into the wheelwell, to clean out the leaves and debris that was clogging it up in the first place.

Just got my second-hand Scudo and have been fixing little issues like this constantly (neglect from the previous owner) and this forum has been priceless.

The more I drive and use the Scudo, the more I like it.

Thanks so much, it helped me out big time too!
On the Scudo, there are a pair of drains BOTH passenger and driver sides, so 4 altogether.
1 pair is fairly visible, they drain the very bottom of the lip of the plastic, but the other pair are back under the windscreen, behind the grills. It might not be straightforward to locate these drains as they can be totally covered by black gunk like mine were.
Just scratch around in the gunk and chances are you dislodge the stuff and water will start gushing down. Then you can locate the other end of the drain pipe in the wheel arch and expand and clean them too as they are probably squeezed fairly tight.

Hello folks, I recently bought a Fiat Scudo and presently going through some challenges to fix all those things that the previous owner never cared about. I had the same problem of water leakage, I was not sure what the hell was going on but after joining this forum I read this post and followed the advice. Yes the pipe was totally clogged and blocked. Thank you for sharing the experience. I am happy to be here with the Fiat Scudo family :)
