Hello again. I have read up on previous heater issues and removed as instructed. The problem I have is that there is no voltage present at the 4 pin connector and a relay (green one) adjacent to the blower housing has signs of burn/heat damage on one of the spade connectors. Can anybody tell me why i'm getting no voltage at the connector? All the fuses appear to be ok and the fan turns when connected to a 12volt supply. Thanks in advance for any replies.

A burned looking relay connector indicates the relay contacts are 'dirty' and not closing properly. This causes heat and the burning. I'm not sure the relay has anything to do with the fan though..... still, it needs attention.

Replace the relay first off.

Have ordered a relay from the local Stealers. £14 for a relay!! I'll try it tomorrow. I'm not 100 percent sure that it has anything to do with the blower but i'm not encountering any other electrical problems. I'll let you know how i get on.

I've fitted the new relay today and there is still no voltage at the 4 pin plug. I'm totally confused now. Could it be the heater slider speed control switch? Any replies are greatly appreciated. I'm freezing my n@@s off up here!

vehicle details?

are you supposed to have voltage at this pin 4?

99- 1.9 EL. I would have thought you'd need voltage at the 4 pin plug for the blower to turn as there is no other supply connection? When i've connected the blower to 12 volts it operates. Totally confused and whats more annoying is i'm an electrician but not on auto's!!!!

The fan gets its voltage from the 'speed control' circuit which is known for going t*ts up.

Unless you know how to fix thesed vari-speed control electronics I think you're going to need a new circuit board.

You could bypass the circuit and apply the full 12V to the fan - noisy, but better than nothing. You need the electrical wiring drawing to figure this out.

Thanks for the tip. I guess I'll have to get a new speed controller and see if that sorts things out. I assume you cant get the circuit board seperately?

the slider contol is about £300 and then fan/resistor assembly is a little over £200, I would recommend getting a reputable dealership to pinpoint the faultto save a costly guess/mistake unless you can get parts from scrap vehicle etc

I've stripped the slide control from the dash and have separated the printed circuit board from the slider control. There is a 4? pin plug behind the assembly. There appears to be no voltage here either with the ignition on. I only get 12volts once i turn the lights on for the dashboard illumination. Is this correct? Sorry to ask so many bloody questions:confused:

yes engine defenatly needs to be running before it will work

Having stripped the slide controller and circuit board from the dashboard, this morning was the first time i had driven the van since re-fittinng the blower (only to stop the draught!) I had been driving for about an hour and the fan motor strarted blowinng warm air out the vents. It turns out that the relay socket connections were not making proper connection with the relay since the original relay burnt out. I am officially an a*se as i've been carrying out all these "tests" with the ignition on but the engine off. DUH! I know need to replace the slider controller and pcb to do a final check. At the moment, the fan is turning at half speed presumably because the circuit board is missing. I am hopinng that once the pcb is replaced everything should be fine. I cannot tell you how chuffed i am, now i'm getting about with some heat in the cab. I've owned my Scudo for 10 years from new and its been a challlenge but well worth it. Finally, thanks to Kellys Eye, T14086 and bigdong. I could not have got this far without your help. Its greatly appreciated. Cheers! (y)

Altho i have a qualified tech to help me with this same problem, could someone tell me where the heater lies on these scudo`s ~(99 1.9)

the reason i ask, because of all the heavy rain that we ve had,i have had serious water retention trickled down onto the floorboard etc.......
i m wondering if this shorted the heater unit at some point.
:cry: with it getting cold now, i m hopin to get it fixed soon.
thanx for any reply s in advance, will update you soon(y)

Behind the glove box.

:cry: I may have a connection here that could get me a used heater-blower, if not, could anyone give me an good websites or phone numbers in UK?? also, would the same unit that goes into smaller cars, like a Punto, fit into a Scudo?? looking at the pics, they appear to be the same size.Help???

Thank you all for your suggestions and possibilities
I have now discovered through a prossess of elimination that the problem with my heater is the Brushes are worn .. I took them out to check them and gave them a clean and put them back in for now and plugged in the motor as you do just layed on the pass side floor and poof haha fan runs flat out !!

I say POOF as i had about half a bag of cement spilt on the floor so all was a little dusty for a while

Anyway
