my recently bought scudo diesel has a slight whistle from the turbo under exeleratin and slow down , im guessing theres a leak on a pipe somewhere , any ones views here would be great ! ie - where to find it etc cheers dudes daz

i dont think there is a leak...are you loosing boost pressure.....if yo are then there is a leak if not then that just the sound of the turbo

alot of the m-jet turbos whistle quite loudly, if a pipe has split somewhere you will know as you will not be able to hear the engine over the sucking noise under hard acceleration IME

well guess thats the norm then , theres no lack of power ..thanks for the imfo!

thats the reason i posted in the first place , reading the threads i think its the norm!

yup my one does the same too

I was worried at first but i've had the van for 18 months now and still no worse plus since then i have noticed alot of Fiat vans that whistle loudly

emergency vehicle noise is often cause by a bent fin in the turbo, i'd live with it unless it got much worse during which time you could leisurely look out for a decent seondhand cheap turbo,

on a garrett turbo, fitted to my 1.9td scudo should i be able to move the wastegate arm freely?

The wastegate arm should move fairly freely. There is a spring inside with the diaphram and the presure on the gate will keep it closed until the presure in the diaphram forces it off its seat and relieves the boost pressure.
