Hello guys,

I recently bought a fiat scudo 2000 reg, and within a few days the indicators and hazards stopped working. I've been told it's a relay that has gone???

I bought a manual to find out which one will need replacing as I understand there is a panel in the dash and under the bonnet. However the manual shows nothing for the indicators/hazards and I was wondering if this is infact a relay problem or if it is something else?

Could be the hazard light switch assembly as the indicators go through this anyway. Try poking the switch on/off a good few times and/or checking for a loose connector on the rear of it.

You put your finger on the hazard switch, push it ON, push it OFF, push it ON, push it OFF.......... etc etc :bang:

:p I presume you're referring to accessing the switch. IIRC you can do this by removing the ash tray assembly and having a feel underneath.

Don't neglect the relay as being the source of the problem though. I think it's in the fusebox under the hood (near the battery). Inside the lid of the box identifies which relay is which.

Hello,

A little update. I was driving down the road and decided to just keep pressing the hazard light button to see if anything happened, and eventually they started working, but not the indicators. Anyway, the hazards continued to work for my journey to work, but I tested them afterwards and they are no longer working. I took the panel off and checked the connection and it seems to be connected fine. I also checked thoroughly through my manual atleast 10 times and I found a fuse for the indicators, however the fuse box in the picture is completely different to mine so am unsure if it is the right fuse. Anyway this fuse was unbroken and I changed it anyway and still not working.

Does anyone know what this problem could be as I have to drive it and cannot afford an auto electrician at the moment.

Sounds like the relay. It can be found at the bottom of the steering coloum. Remove the panels round the coloum at the bottom you will see two or three relays it the grey one. If you open the relay and use a soldering iron to heat the copper bit above the coil then put a big lump of solder on top of it , it will work for another 3/4 months giving you a chance to source another one :)

Thanks, I replaced the relay and the hazards are now working :) The indicators still dont work but are now makin a buzzing sound. Anyone know what that means? A fuse maybe?

The main indicator switch on the coloum is a common problem but it usually works when you apply a little pressure, if it does you will need a new switch cost around £60 to buy takes about half hour to change. Sounds like you may have a problem with the power supply could just be electro corrostion on the fuse try replaceing it. If all that fails you would need to trace and clean all the connections. Good luck!

Hi. My indicators have worked on and off for a week or so. A quick flick up and down on the stalk was curing it...but not now. Also the hazards aren't flashing but I can be the relay clicking when I push the button. Anyone no the cause? Relay, stalk?

Try taking the plastic shroud off so that the wires and other gubbins are exposed. I found my stalk was catching on the plastic shroud and failing to switch properly.

Oooh-er.

Thanks for the replys. No obvious problem when removing the stalk. If I hear and feel the relay click with the hazard switch and the indicator stalk but it doesn't repeat I'm guessing it's the relay. Any thoughts on that?

Hi. Changed the indicator relay best part of £18 from euro car parts (same one as many Peugeots of that year including little 106) very easy fix. Remove steering column shroud and lift out the grey relay that you then see under the steering wheel. Simply ease up and it will pull out and replace.

Job done, indicators and hazards working again.

I've similar problem but dont found any issue on a Scudo 1.9d from 2003 (lhd) with 115.000 km.

Indicators and hasards warnings don't work anymore

Fuses checked

Indicators relay 'cartier' replaced by an other new from Valeo (same as original)
Now hazard warning works fine but indicators stay not working (left or right)

Thé indicators are in working state because they work with hazard switch or when i lock the Scudo with remonte control

I've dissambled the indicators switch, check all the connecting between switch and wiring. I've check the wiring where i can sée it ....nothing wrong. I've check the wiring and pins on the relay indicators ...nothing wrong

Now i've order a new steering switch...

Other problem...the buzzer (working light) is now working when i open the door with engine one...not only with engine off.

If you have any advice to check something else...you'are welcome...

****... indicators...i néed to use m'y scudo
