Warranty question....

Hi,
I have a Scudo JTD and may have misfuelled it - unleaded into diesel.
Will this invalidate my warranty?
I am positive that it was re-fuelled correctly but the mechanic has said it has all of the symptoms.....

Re: Warranty question....

Van was serviced - 72,000.
New cambelt.
New water pump.
Drove to work next morning - van spluttered briefly then lost a bit of power. Pulled over, started again and drove to work (30 miles).
Then put about £30 of fuel in.
Drove home and did about 10 more miles.
Next day drove 30 miles to work again.
Left job and within a mile the van started shuddering and sounding rough.
Got towed by the AA.
Garage checked cambelt and pump - said it was ok.
They then mentioned misfuelling (the £30).
As I use a fuel card, I will not know until tomorrow if I did drop a ricket (Texaco will have a record on the system).
Mechanic has since said he cannot smell UL petrol and when he got some fuel out could not ignite it.....
I am confused.
Until the service, the van was a great motor and never failed me..........

Fingers crossed Texaco confirm you fed it diesel, could it be that there's water in the fuel ?

Might be worth lobbing a new fuel filter in it, and that may confirm if diesel or UL has been put in.

all you have to do is take a fuel sample & put it in polystyrene cup, if it eats away at bottom of cup its petrol if not its diesel....bit safer this way aswell!

Re: Warranty question....

Still no forum members coming up with a diagnosis after my last post?
The water theory has been mentioned 2 or 3 times. Could water have got into the fuel - I did have a new water pump fitted?
Would love to get some fuel out to try the theory, but it is at the garage.....
If I had dropped a bollock (misfuel) and warranty is void....anyone willing to take a guess at the repair cost...?

Re: Warranty question....

without seeing it, testing it it would be next to impossible to guess fault/damage done or cost, sorry.

Drain tank, stick new fuel filter on & you might be alright
