| 2ltr JTD Does anyone have an idea of how reliable injectors are in these engines? My ( read very unreliable ) local garage, reckon mine may need refurbing/replacing. I don't think so, and am wondering what else the problem may be. I've lost a little power, and am getting a slight judder upon acceleration in 4th and 5th at 40 mph plus. It's only a slight judder, but doesn't feel right, and the slight loss of power is mildy concerning. To cut a very long story short, I had my cambelt replaced by a local cowboy garage, they messed it up and I've had to have my head rebuilt. Since then, less power, and a slight judder as described. I'm guessing either EGR, of injectors.. if anyones got a clue please help. Alternatively if theres any recommended mechanics near Thetford that may be able to give it the once over...... Cheers, Dave.

| Re: 2ltr JTD Well, now, heres the thing, theyve changed the bottom end for another because when they stripped my motor down piston twos edges had been metling slightly, and they reckoned that the head gasket was on its way, so, they sold me this bottom end ( £100 ) from a 26k ( they say ) HDI lump, and put my reworked head on it. So, in respect of head gasket and compression, all should be tip top. Yesterday he started making up som e story about the egr valve pipe that may have a leak as there was lots of soot around it, and then went on to say it was showing a relay fault , but it was fine before they had the van. Could it be an air leak or similar? I have no idea, I do know I wish I'd have kept my Transit, at least I knew my way about that if it ever ( never ) needed work.

| hot hot tamale! | Re: 2ltr JTD Is this the PSA group engine - i.e. not a real JTD? If so then not the most reliable diesel by far. By all means ask here but you may find more info on a pug/citroen site - just keep quiet about what chassis the engine is in

| Re: 2ltr JTD They told me that it was an HDI, same as mine, which was a JTD. And that they were all the same, just supplied to the different manufacturers. Are you saying that an HDI is infact a lesser motor? Christ, the nightmare continues. What about this slight judder and sotty EGR? could they be related? Thanks for your replies by the way.

| hot hot tamale! | Re: 2ltr JTD I'm not certain but Fiat and the PSA (citroen/peugeot) shared engines for the Ulysse and possibly the Scudo. Instead of the Fiat JTD they used a Pug HDI and they're very different. The Pug HDI was labeled a JTD just as that's what Fiat called their other diesels. Just going from what my local specialist says the non-Fiat JTD isn't as good. Still the Scudo is a great van of the Tipo era so well worth having them fix their mistakes. The EGRs are always sooty and a quick clean with carb cleaner should bring them back to best. Usual issue with JTDs is a knackered MAF sensor which can be diagnosed by a lack of power over 3000rpm with it attached and unplugging it returns power.

| Re: 2ltr JTD Thanks, Perhaps I'll try the MAF test on the way home tonight then. Where is it, is it the device on the air in pipe after the airbox? Thanks again Dave.
