Torrent linking

Is linking to torrent sites legal?

i have noticed a lot of people asking for maps... can someone in the know let me know... ben?

i link to a general search page not the individual link.however this is where it gets sketchy as the files are not on the torrent site so technically not ilegal there either.may have to consult the boss on this

Yea is a sketchy subject, hosting the torrent file isnt illegal either, as it doesnt contain an copyrighted information, i dont think so anyhow, hence why Demonoid.com etc arent shut down, if anyone needs an invite pm me.

Ok, I think it's been a unanimous decision to allow the linking to the website that contains the torrent, rather than the torrent itself.

However, this will be looked at closely and if any illegal content is linked too, or we aren't happy with the link itself, we will reserve the right to remove the post. Should this start to happen regularly we won't allow the linking at all.

its not illegal to download material from torrent sites. Its illiegal to UPLOAD copyrighted material.

When you donload from a P2P site such as demonoid or torrentspy you are only downloading pieces of information from up to hundreds of sources, so you arent downloading the whole file from one person. Thats why its legal. Wheras when you seed a torrent (share,upload) you are the only person distributing it, therefor you could be breaking copyright law.

I use torrents all the time, demonoid is the b****x. Downloaded 50gig of music and games and have never had a problem, just make sure you seed or demonoid will kick you.
