OH bought me an expensive TT for my birthday - heap of poo.
It never locked onto the live services.
Despite having 'IQ' routes, it didn't seem to have a clue how to route.
examples.
* Coming into town, a certain junction has been a 'no right turn' for many years, the sensible thing to do is turn right at an earlier roundabout & take a couple of side roads.- not tomtom.
Down to the junction & turn left. Now, the lights at this junction are badly set up - so if you catch a red you end up waiting ages.
Anyhoo, left at the junction, 200 yards to a mini- roundabout & do a 180 (something beyond the ability of anything bigger than a panda/mini...).
Back to the junction & go straight ahead! (n)
* Coming into town another way, A - B shortest/quickest way is to follow said route all way to town, skirt the town centre & head out to B (actually half a mile shorter).
NO, TT tells you to turn left & take a side road through an estate. Said road contains three mountains of speedbumps plus a dozen smaller bumps that only larger cars can straddle & barely notice them. The huge speed bumps force everything to take them at a crawl, they are also set to allow priority to oncoming traffic so you might have to stop at each one!
Bluetooth connection to the phone was abysmal as the speaker was worse than my phone's

Took it back (said it didn't work), got a refund & bought a garmin with lifetime maps & live services included for less money. Done a couple of long distances & although it doesn't let you know about some of the snarl ups on the motorway (M6 around Brum is a regular slowpoint), a couple of times it has warned me about problems ahead & offered to reroute.
I wonder if it figures that some reroutes will end up taking longer than sitting in the snarl ups & so not bothered informing me?

And BTW, I used to think my old TT was the mutt's nuts. It served me very well for many years (one xl) until I took up TT's offer of new map plus 1 year update for £20, plugged the unit into my PC, told I had to download new interface thingy, went to back up the data & the TT died - red circle with white X. PC couldn't even read it as a storage device (else I could've formatted it & put on an old backup). The old TT never sent me on any of those strange routes I mentioned above.

Nokia Drive!!! Certainly the way to go! Use it on my 808 pureview and hasn't let me down since!

Live traffic rerouting, speed cam warnings, constantly updated POIs and best of all, it's FREE! :D
